I got this to change the DVI port to a Mini-DisplayPort after the new GPU card had different sockets. On the new AMD R9 280X GPU, the Sapphire version came with 1 DVI, 2m-DP, and 1 HDMI. Using this for a triple monitor, this adapter worked for 2 monitor setup, but as soon as I plugged the 3rd one into the card, the one with this adapter would turn off. AS it turned out, for 3 monitor setup from a single AMD R series card, all of the adapters need to be of "active" dual-link variety to tell the GPU that the devices are discreet. So it does work fine for extending a clone screen from a laptop to TV or external monitor/projector. It will also work for two displays running discreetly (separate screens, not clone image) from one GPU card. But for triple monitor setup or more from one card, on a desktop workstation an "active" adapter must be used. Not this. Knowing this, the adapter here worked fine for what it was intended. Just not what I needed. I'll keep this around though, as it works great for mirroring my laptop to a HDMI/DVI socket TV and projector.

Purchased this to swap out the Apple mini display to VGA adapter that came with my recently purchased pre-owned MacMini. This adapter is a quality, well-made piece that works perfectly; much less expensive than buying the white one with the little chewed apple on it. Monitor image as good as the OEM Apple VGA adapter.

Bought to add a display for testing a 2012 15" MacBook Pro I received with a broken display. It worked great and I say this because Apple is pretty picky on third party adapters! After removing the broken display from the MacBook, and finding the cost to replace, initially prohibitive, I decided to test out the headless MacBook. While it worked fine with an older Acer monitor, the Acer picked right up on it and allowed me to use the MBP's keyboard and mouse to navigate. Needing internet in another room, I found issues while trying it with an older Dell monitor. The Dell wanted an external keyboard, yet when using one, it still refused to display. I'm going to lay the blame on the Dell display and/or other connection cables, not this adapter!

I have a mac mini and this worked right away plug and play and the adapter fit snug in the mini displayport the adapter feels like hollow plastic but can't complain too much because of the price

My daughter ran off with my spare HDMI monitor, so all I had left was DVI-D. This adapter allows me to attach a second monitor to the Mac, since the second hole in the Mac is Thunderbolt. This works transparently to the Mac, the only adjustment was to change on the Mac was from "Duplicate display" to "Continue display." I'm not sure what Thickness and Sheerness have to do with anything, but one end of the adapter plugged into the Mac gracefully, the other end plugged into the DVI-D cable gracefully, and it works well.

Convenient and easy to use

Could not be easier to set up, took about maybe 2 minutes. Haven't seen an issue been using for almost a month. Both monitors look perfect.

Works as expected. Perfect for what I need for my MAC.
