What is the size of the hole? i know the size of the entire strike, but how big is the hole?

the opening on the unit is 1 1/8" it fits my Pella Sliding door and is exactly what was on the door when installed. I called Pella Manufacturing to track down a replacement part and ended up finding this on my own. Good Luck with your repair.

Does this work with any brand door?

The manufacture of the door is not the real issue. It will depend on what mortise latch you have on the door and if you have enough room on the door frame to mount this item.
