I haven't used it on a sleeping bag but I do spray all of my clothes and the suitcases for this reason. They also advise not to put suitcases on beds in hotels to limit the exposure and to keep them off the floor on the bag stand that most hotels provide or on a desk or table. It will prevent against hitchhikers. But as for a sleeping bag that has a large amount of exposure, but it should last at least 3 - 4 washes as well if you launder the sleeping bag while on the road. I definitely would recommend this spray, but again the best way to check for bed bugs is to inspect the mattress edges for the little buggers and see if you see any. (also get the blacklight app for your smartphone for other things - just remember to turn your brightness all the way up when using it).
