Awesome, innovative toy
I'm an adult fan of the movie/series and bought this for myself. I don't really collect toys but the mechanism sounded like the coolest thing since air pressure powered actions in Zoids. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this purchase. First of all, the toy is very well made. The plastic is thick and durable, and the legs, ears and wings allow for bending. Even the roughest kid will have a hard time outright breaking this toy. The jaw hinges are probably the weakest part. For the price, you'd expect durability and quality materials, and they seem to have delivered on this point. The mechanisms worked right away. When filling the cartridge with water, I tilted the toy so the water would spread and more would be absorbed. If you don't do this, it might trick you into thinking the cartridge is full when not that much water is in there. Another good way to tell is how the toy balances when its wings are folded back. When the cartridge is empty, the toy will be slightly heavier in the tail end. Once it's full, it stands firm on its legs. The LED light is strong and you can really see the "smoke" when the lights are dim or off. The projectile doesn't have a great deal of power to it but I can still shoot my cat from a few feet away. The only con I've experienced with the product is the tail. It is a real pain to attach. My dad and I fussed with it a while and contemplated taking the toy apart, but then I grabbed it, braced the head against myself, tightened my abs, and just went hulk-mode. Amazingly, it worked. Brute strength seems to be the answer to getting the tail attached. At least you know that thing will never, NEVER come off. But yeah, this is one cool toy and I love it! Highly recommended.

Wings must be pulled back BEFORE attaching the tail!
This toy is awesome!! All 3 of my children love the movie 'How to Train Your Dragon' and this toy was the biggest hit of Christmas morning. As far as I can tell, most of the negative reviews are related to the assembly of the tail to the body of the dragon. Many reviewers complained that the tail piece doesn't fit and some said they pushed so hard they actually broke the tail trying to put it on. This is because they are doing it incorrectly, NOT because of a flaw in the toy. HIS WINGS MUST BE PULLED BACK BEFORE INSERTING THE TAIL! If the tail doesn't click easily into the body of the tail it's because you already fully extended his wings. Things have to be done in the correct order. When his wings are pulled back in the 'dive' position, the tail clicks into place with very little pressure. Unfortunately this is never stated in the instructions, you're just left to figure it out on your own - but it's a flaw in the instructions, not a flaw in the toy itself. This is a great toy and I've had 3 ecstatic children playing with it non-stop since Christmas morning.

Tail doesn't fit
Like others have said, the tail tabs are set further apart than the body slots, making assembly impossible. We're on our second dragon, thinking Santa's elves made the first one poorly, but nope, seems to be a flaw in all of them. I'm sure it's a cool toy, but it's a nightmare to put together. It's going back, again...

He Makes for a Perfect Display Item for Any Fan of How to Train your Dragon
I'm a huge fan of HTTYD in general and since I already own his dive bombing figurine and I was excited to get my hands on this one mainly for the size and detail alone. I was so happy with how large he was. The only thing I had trouble with was his tail. Like many said its extremely hard to get in. I did everything from inserting it with his wings pulled back as well as completely dissembling the top half of him, but even with his top half off, I still had issues in pushing the tail so the top part fits back over it. After a little of trial and error I finally got it in by jamming it in while the top was somewhat loose. I'm not sure if I got lucky or I just did push it in with enough force the first time since I was worried about breaking it. Despite this one thing, the tail seems like it won't be coming out or breaking off anytime soon. He works the way as advertised and also just looks good as a display on its own since I see myself more as a collector anyway. Also with his projectiles not working 100% of the time, I found out that there is an indentation on the end of the projectile that as long as I made sure that dent was facing the bottom of his mouth upon inserting it, it will make a click sound which tells you it should launch upon pressing on his right ear. Overall very happy with this toy. He looks so well detailed and definitely worth the price. See him lasting a while. Edit: 10/1/2015: Unfortunately, after about a month, the vapor stopped working and despite trying to dissemble it, I couldn't seem to get it to work again and when it did work, it was for very short spurts. However, the missiles still work along with the blue light. Either way, still happy with him, still makes an amazing display item for any collector and that was my primary purpose of getting it anyway.

Amazing toy and got here amazingly fast thanks to an awesome seller- just in two days and right before Christmas. Toothless is absolutely beautiful and quite impressive in size and detail. The blue smoke special effect is amazing and my son loves this toy more than anything.

Bought it for Grandson's birthday. It is an over-priced piece of toy. The tail keeps coming off. There is actually not much a kid can do with it, but to hold it and move it around. The "smoke" and shooting arrow gadget are just gimmicks. Well, is that the strategy of toy manufacturers. Hype the interest of a kid, then sell something of not much value at a high price. A Hotcar shooting through a roller coaster loop still involves some physics, this - not much.
