They aren't too tight or too loose. I have always used dance paws or ballet shoes, so I wasn't sure how the soles of these would function on the wooden floors in the dance studio. They are awesome! They let me spin so easy....way easier than the ballet shoes and dance paws. They are not slippery at all! I don't have to worry about my feet slipping out from under me if I don't have all my weight completely over the foot. That is a relief. My character shoes were so slippery and I was worried about these...but no, they are perfect for spins and everything else. The heel doesn't bother me. I wasn't sure how it would change my balance or movement, but it's no problem. It also doesn't cause any unsteadiness in my ankle. That is awesome. I really like these shoes.
