Review: A very effective and relatively quiet dehumidifier - This is an excellent desiccant dehumidifier, and superior to my previous one costing twice the price. It's compact and light enough to be moved around the house if required. It needs about 8 inches of clearance from the wall to the back of the machine for the filter to work efficiently. The filter is at the back, and it's very easy to clean as it just slides out from the side. It can be vacuumed or brushed. I use a soft-bristle brush (new paintbrush or similar). It's quieter than my last dehumidifier. On the Eco setting, it makes a similar noise to a cool air fan. The turbo setting is noisier since it uses more power. I've placed mine in the hallway, where it manages to extract moisture from the living room, bedroom, kitchenette and bathroom. Internal doors need to be left open a bit, but windows, etc., should be closed while the dehumidifier is in use (otherwise it will draw in moisture from outdoors and cost much more to run). The rotary dial allows you to select from a complete range of humidity levels, not just low, medium and high as on preset push-button models. However, apart from the raindrop (moisture) symbols, there's no scale of humidity level settings on the rotary dial itself, so you will need a separate hygrometer to measure / monitor the actual humidity levels. From electricity meter readings, and for a 1-bedroom flat, I've estimated that using this dehumidifier on the Eco setting for 24 hours daily, will increase my electricity bill by about £10 to £15 per month (although this may be greater for larger houses, or if your pre-existing humidity or dampness levels are particularly high). The estimated cost takes into account the fact that it doesn't actually operate for 24 hours, because it cuts off automatically once the desired humidity level has been reached and only comes on again when the humidity level rises. The increase in electricity could be reduced by using the dehumidifier only during the day or night, or only when cooking or using a shower / bath. However, on health, hygiene and humidity grounds, it may be advisable to keep it running as long as it remains affordable. UPDATE 27 Feb 2016: After running this dehumidifier on automatic for the last few months, I've found that it doesn't need to switch itself on as often now since the humidity levels in the house have been progressively reduced to an optimum level. Therefore, the electricity costs will be less than I estimated originally (above). This EcoAir dehumidifier is proving to be more economical than my previous one (which was a different brand).
Review: Great dehumidifier! I’d recommend - I’ve been using this dehumidifier for about 3 years now and it has worked very well! It has a knob which allows you to adjust how much water the dehumidifier removes from the air. Once the right level has been reached it turns off. Living in the UK this is great for when I hang clothes indoors to prevent the air become too humid which could promote growth of mould. I’d highly recommend this dehumidifier!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is better about the EcoAir DD122FW MK5 compared toEcoAir DD122FW Desiccant Simple is it woth paying extra for the newer model**
A: Not a simple answer, As it "Depends" on if any of the newer features are useful to YOU, I first came across this Dehumidifier from a friend who was using one on the boat he was doing up, and he came and stayed the weekend and brought the EcoAir with him to see if it would do what I wanted, it worked brilliantly, filling the 2ltr container in 4 hrs. So I looked online and found there was now a MK 5 version, and this as one of the new features had a filter option, my wife was suffering terribly from the high pollen count (I mean hospital visits) so that was partly my reason for choosing the MK5, it also has a built in TIMER 2, 4 or 8hr settings which I thought would be handy for my use, the electronic rather than mechanical switch is neither here nor there as far as I am concerned. My suggestion would be to download the PDF manuals for both models from the link below, and make up your mind the best model to suite Your needs.Link for manuals. www.ecoair.org/manuals.html

**Q: I have recently bough dehumidifier of amazon. its great but only works on higher volume. when I would like to have it lower it doesn't switch on, there is no red light in power bottom. am I doing anything wrong?

thank you**
A: I keep mine on a low setting all the time, which means that it only actually switches on and starts purring when it needs to. It's much more economical to use it in this way. I'm convinced that yours is working ok and that you are not doing anything wrong. I'm happy with the amount of water collected each day on the low setting. I only turn it up higher if I have washing drying inside my flat - which is more often in winter than in summer, when I can use an outside line. Hope this helps.

**Q: Does this model use a life time filter or one that I need to replace every few months**
A: The filter should be changed every 1 to 2 year because the filter is Silver Nano and the germicidal effects will weaken after time. Please note do not wash the filter as it will speed up weakening the germicidal effects, lightly vacuum or brush away.

**Q: Warranty period**
A: Mine has just stopped working but that's because I've had it for nearly 8 years and it has been on at laundry setting for more than 12 hours per day, almost every single day! The best value for money possible. An excellent piece of equipment.
