140°C or 145°C models work great as replacement thermostats for certain Rowenta steamers. The retainer ring that holds the thermostat to the heat-body is a slightly different shape, so you have to screw it in carefully. But this pare comes way faster and cheaper than ordering from fix.com or other appliance parts outlets.

Worked well

I got these for repairing Mr. Coffee el-cheapo coffee makers. They work fine. The one issue I had was that these are not as tall as the OEM thermostats. This is easily fixed by bending the retaining clip so that the shorter 'stat will stay tight against the heating tube. Don't forget to have a tube of thermal compound on hand to place between the new 'stat and the tube heater.

Our Renew 1500W Infrared Heater (model 138468) sat unused for a couple of years after it began shutting down within a minute or two of starting - no matter how low the temp setting. Determined to finally throw it out or fix it I remove the thermostat unit and with the use of a heat gun and continuity check on my VOM meter I found that the switch (normally closed) opened after VERY little heating which is why my unit no longer ran more than 30 secs or so... For less than ten bucks (including a spare thermostat) we have our heater back! Make sure to match the overtemp protection value to your existing unit. I found a wide range of temp values when looking for a replacement. Overall installation degree of difficulty - 2 out of 10! (see below) * One issue with this specific replacement. The supplied bracket only holds the thermostat from backing out of the mounted hole. However, it can easily push INTO the heat chamber since the hole in the sheet metal wall was larger than the sensor. I fashioned a 2nd bracket that exposed the sensing surface but retained the sensor by sandwiching it to the supplied bracket. I've attempted to sketch what my tin snips and some thin flashing material accomplished...

I can’t really comment on long-term performance because I had to return this item shortly after it arrived. The inner packaging was already ripped open, which immediately raised some concerns about whether it had been previously handled or returned. More troubling was the condition of one of the thermostat terminals. The tab was so weak that I was afraid to touch it. Instead of feeling like a solid electrical connection, it behaved more like a loose hinge, and that’s simply not something I was willing to risk installing in an electrical setup. It may work fine for others, and it’s possible this was just an isolated issue, but given the condition it arrived in and the fragility of that connection point, returning it was the only responsible option for me. Your experience may be better than mine, but I couldn’t safely use this particular unit.
