I originally bought this panel with the idea of putting it on my shed roof and using it to keep my lawn tractor battery topped up. My tractor is old and the charging system is pretty much non-existent, but since the battery is mostly used only to crank the engine, I can get through an entire season with it.Almost.The battery, like the tractor, is starting to get a little tired. I've found myself having to take it out and charge it to get through this season. Let's face it, this battery is on its last legs, and I'm just hoping I can get through the next few weeks with it.So I bought this solar panel and immediately ran out of time to install it on the tractor. Instead, I stuck it in my truck. My poor old truck sits unused for weeks at a time. It always starts, but it tends to crank pretty slowly because the battery draws down between uses. This charge/discharge cycle is hard on both batteries and alternators, and both have gotten too expensive to abuse and potentially damage.Since I don't drive the truck much and I don't want to run a battery tender outside, I decided to repurpose the solar panel as a truck battery maintainer. For this, it works perfectly.The panel mounts to the inside of the windshield with four suction cups. Easy to put on, easy to remove when I want to drive. The panel itself is very thin so I have to treat it gingerly. I wish I could find a solution that didn't involve removing it every time I want to use the truck but so far I haven't. We'll see how it holds up over time to being repeatedly installed or removed. I envision flexing it just a little too much and hearing a fatal cracking sound but so far it's been fine.The panel uses SAE connectors which allows you to attach to the cigarette lighter dongle, alligator clips, or dedicated ring terminals. I use the cigarette lighter adapter because the lighter socket is live on my truck all the time. If your vehicle disconnects the lighter socket when the ignition is turned off, you'll have to figure something else out.SAE connectors are hermaphroditic connectors. That means that two SAE connectors will plug together, but the polarity will reverse (IE the "positive" terminal of one will feed the "negative" terminal of the next one). I triple-checked that the panel would not be wired in reverse polarity in my installation. The panel has a reverse-polarity indicator but I prefer to use a multimeter and see for myself. You can get polarity reversing adapters if you need them but I didn't.Last time I went to use my truck, the panel had been on and charging for about a week. The truck cranked just as quickly as if I'd put the battery on a dedicated charger. I haven't checked current output or state of charge of the battery, but my seat-of-the-pants analysis tells me that it's keeping the battery topped up. Impressive considering we've had a few cloudy/rainy days this week. We'll see how well it works over the winter.In all I'm impressed with this panel. It's a simple solution that (so far) seem to work well. It's WAY less expensive than buying a battery so if it continues to work, I will consider it money well spent. I'll update once I've used it a while longer.

I've had a few times where I came out to start my car and the battery was dead, But that was because the dash cam had drained the battery. My power port never shuts off even if I turn the car off. The only way to turn it off is to disconnect the battery or pull the fuse. And it's a Wi-Fi – cam so I was searching for a Wi-Fi hotspot and on top of that it's always recording, It never stops. Show you this. You just ate a lot of power. With this trigger charger, it has just enough juice to run the dash cam without it draining the battery completely. I've been able to leave it for 5 days and have no issues. Used to be only about 2 days and I couldn't start my car. I haven't tested it beyond 5 days cuz frankly I'm tired of asking my neighbors for jumps. But it works great. It's full of power via the power port because yes I have two of them. I mean why wouldn't you always be on in a car?.. It's actually one of the many things here that works as advertised. I haven't been a meter to it yet, but I think it pushes a bit more than 10 w in direct sunlight, but considering my car is usually parked beneath an awning, it still provides enough power to power the dash cam and keep the battery charged so that it'll start whenever I need it. So it was a great value. Definitely worth the money paid. And I would definitely recommend it. The only issue is it does get quite hot sitting in the sun but it is black and I live in Arizona, those are two things that do not get along. If they can make it white it'd be perfect.

I originally bought this product and gave it a bad review which I have since deleted. I kind of honestly felt like it may had been trouble on my end and that is what turned out to be the case. My battery was so dead there was no reviving it not even from a jump. When plugged into my jump starter it would take voltage and start the car from the power of the starter battery but, once shut off drop right to zero. With that said I have since replaced that battery and have run this Trickle Charger since. That battery for the past several months has held a charge due to this trickle charger. To top it off the battery I have is an Optima Red Top and as it turns out I was unaware that the quality of this battery has really gone down in years. I obviously wont be buying another one but, the warranty covered a new one and this Trickle charger has really been a lifesaver honestly. I expect had I not had it on there it would definitely had died just like the last one. I can no confidently come out to my vehicle and crank it up like a fresh battery on day 1 never having to wonder. The second I hit the remote and I hear the beep I get a smile on my face. Unfortunately this vehicle is parked for long periods of time and is driven maybe once a month or so. The only minor complaint I have is the plastic of the panel is becoming slightly concave from the sun hanging in my windshield. I'm also concerned that over time the suction cups will become sun damaged and no longer function but, all working for now and well worth the money. A very cheap fix for an expensive and painful problem. Only 4 stars cause I think a better mounting solution could possibly be derived and the plastic is bending though this has not affected performance that I can tell.

I don't drive or go anywhere but maybe once every other week and only for a couple miles. So the electronics drain the battery due to sitting unused. I bought this to hook up to my battery and it does a good lob. Easy to use and hook up and it fits in the corner of my windshield. It keeps the battery fresh like it is new and still have all my electronics to work when just sitting.

I love this little panel. It is a perfect companion for keeping a battery bank charged up when you are out doing things, camping, hiking, etc.I have one mounted on my son's power wheels tractor. It keeps it topped off and ready to go since he tends to only ride it around now and then. The downside is that this little plastic covered panel is starting to fall apart after a year outside. It still produces power, but the plastic is starting to flake off. Eventually it will fail. I give it another year and a half. (I have something similar on my truck to keep it topped off and after 3 years mounted on the hood it is looking pretty rough.)

I have purchased 2 of these trickle chargers to maintain the battery in my RV trailer when it’s parked and not being used.They both exhibited an issue in a few months of use where the top coating of the solar panel starts flaking off because of the sun, probably related to the types of sun rays. The film is not a peel off when purchased type of film either. These solar chargers were bungee tied to the LP tank cover, the battery case is immediately behind that tank cover. Cabling included in the charger box allows for either terminal or clamp attachment to the battery and there is more than enough cable for almost any use.Georgia sun is pretty brutal on lots of things used outside. The solar cell isn’t the only thing impacted by the sun, it also causes the bungee holding it to the LP tank cover to crumble.The first solar charger lasted me a summer and shortly after it started delaminating, it stopped charging the battery. This may have been because it’s in rain and sun, and without the film, may allow the cell and electronics to be damaged by rain water.In checking the RV the other day to verify it went thru the winter with no issues, I found that the second solar cell is also delaminating. This one was installed in November and has been in service for 2.5 months. It’s still charging but I’m not trusting it to last. And we haven’t even had a warm winter where the sun does it's usual brutal beating.So bottom line is that if you need a maintenance device for charging a 12v battery, this is a good choice on a very temporary basis but don’t plan on long term exposed use. After experiencing the same issue with 2 units, it’s a product problem. I’m going to try another brand with a frame around it.Too bad. Was a reasonable price and worked, at least for a while.

Appears to work as advertised. Looks to be a good quality as far as materials go. Overcharged protection appears to cut in at about 14.5 V-14.8v, so practically speaking it probably will not gas your lead acid battery. Dark current measured 1.17 ua, Which is practically Zero. Maximum charge current that I could measure in full sunlight was about 300 mA. This is what you want for a good battery maintainer. I had to wire it into my 2021 Ford F250 ‘s OBDII Connector bc the cigarette lighter was disabled from the battery when the vehicle was turned off. The 16 pin male OBDII Adapter is available off of Amazon for eight or nine bucks. I just wanted to have the solar panel inside the truck and the doors locked when I leave it for the winter. Bear in mind I’ve only had it one day so time will tell whether it’s worth five stars However, so far, I am very pleased.

I installed this on my car that isn't being used regularly in the hopes of keeping the battery topped up for when I need to use it. After checking making sure the connections are right, the battery voltage before attaching the solar charger was 12.3 volts. I left it on the vehicle for a few days. After the 3rd day I noticed the interior light when I got in to check on the solar panel was dimmer than usual. I checked the voltage on the battery and it was reporting at 12 volts. It seemed the solar charger hasn't been charging and topping up, although the indicator light is green (solar panel producing a charging voltage) and the reversed polarity light is off. As an experienced self maintaining owner I do know how to attach the correct polarity to the battery posts on something this simple. I left it on again for a few days. After 3 days I measured the car battery voltage and it registered at 11.5 volts. So in other words this solar battery maintaining unit isn't really charging but discharging my battery slowly instead of topping it off, and keeping it at proper voltage so I have a strong starting power when needed. I've tried it out a few times and finally I returned the item just before my return period expired. Just So you know the sun was definitely on it's strongest the times I had it. It was one of the hottest and brightest days of Summer. So there was no lack of more than adequate sunlight!I reached out to tech support but it didn't connect me to a local support but to the Chinese website! I even tried to email them several times and never got a response! Terrible tech support! Non existent support!

An excellent value item that works well. I keep it in place on my wheelchair car to ensure the battery is always ready for use. As a drive from wheelchair car, it uses a great deal of energy from the battery and this charger is ideal to keep it in full charge.
