I gave this a shot because it was affordable and had positive reviews. This is as honest I can be about the “new car smell” variety:It smells cheap. Really cheap. And very floral. Like a very generic, nondescript fake floral smell that you’d get from buying those really cheap fabric softener sheets ar the dollar store. Or the cheapest air freshener spray at the same dollar store.New car smell should be subtle and clean and maybe even a little complex in how it smells.I wasn’t expecting a whole lot but I had it slightly open in the backseat of the car and was in the car for about 15 minutes and I had a headache by the time I got back home. Typically I’m not sensitive to scents but this smells more like fumes than it smells like something to make the air smell cleaner.I threw it away and had to let my car air out for a day.And ironically, my thrash can now smells like an overload of cheap, nondescript floral fumes, which is overwhelming. I actually preferred the natural smell of garbage to the scent stuck in there now after the air freshener has been sitting in it.Honestly, whatever your car smells like right now I promise it’s better than smelling fake flower scents from what seems like hundreds of cheap fabric softener sheets stuffed into the seats. Ugghhhh.

The "New Car Scent" Variant Of The Refresh You Car Air Fresher is one of my favorites. I've been using it for years. It smells clean but not obnoxious nor does it smell too chemicaly or funky. I have not come across any other freshener that I like this much. Honestly I find fresheners obnoxious usually but not this one.This is not for you if you like super strong obnoxiously perfumery air fresheners. But those tend to give me a headace or make me sick. Not these!The one downside is yes it tends to wear out faster then some. However I have found if you place it in the sun in the back of your car above the seats near the center tail lamp you can get a few more weeks of use from it. So far I've got mine to last about 3-4 mouths. Even when it drys out! The smell tends to come in phases and its subtle. If you get in and out of your car and have a bunch of smelly people in it then the new car Scent might not be for you. If you drive to work and a few other places a day with you and one other person it will probably be fine.If you live in a cold climate you may need to place it near the heater vents or something. It likes to smell good when it gets warm. I am docking one star because the longevity is not always there and it needs heat to work it's best.

This smells nice, and does it's job. I just wish that the freshener had a better reach.
