HIKVISION 8MP IP POE CCTV CAMERA FULL 4K OUTDOOR TURRET 30M NIGHT VISION BLACK, 2160p

I have always been a big fan of HikVision. Its because they have always been good value for money, they are extremely (in fact perfectly) reliable and you can pretty well guarantee that they have implemented the latest technology in their new products. It is the latter reason that really stands out with this camera. My flabber is ghasted. Day time performance is as expected, excellent, but at night - WOW! Unlike any other camera I have ever dealt-with [I have dealt with many], the night time quality does not drop AT ALL with modest streetlighting. The image stays sharp, in perfect accurate colour and has no discernable pixel noise at all. I temporarily tested this camera in my dark unlit yard, and it still gave a full colour clear image just with the light of a partially visible waning crescent moon. This makes IR illumination on CCTV look plain silly! For the purposes of crime prevention, footage from this camera will give evidentially very valuable quality colour images to police, if/when the need arises. As a final technical side note, the quality of this camera is additionally apparent because the bit rate, when set at 4K resolution at a higher frame rate than the previous H265 camera that I had, is far smaller. For a given scene, with not much going on it it, this new camera was outputting 5-8kbps, whereas the older camera outputted 30-60kbps. I think that is because the pixel noise is so much lower. The end result of that is that the recording cycle time will be significantly longer than before. So what is there not to like?:- the case design. It is high quality, but it is really quite fiddly to open the weatherproof hatch to put an SD car in there. This camera relies on friction from silicone rubber pads to hold it in 3-axis position, so the camera MUST be installed out of reach people who could, with no tools, easily change the camera positional setting.

Stunning picture quality both during the day and at night. Motion detection works really well. A pricey investment but worth it for the piece of mine it provides.

There is a tiny and very fiddly screw that needs to be screwed in to hold the camera in the case, once up ladders and outside this becomes something of a pain in the derriere to say the least, the screw is easily lost and without it the thing falls out. Thankfully i now know about this and have replaced the screw with ones i can replace. The good points are the case i mainly metal, very black and sturdy. Not sure if it works yet though as i can't seem to get it connect to my NVR as all the others i bought auto connect using DHCP this one says network not available but is clearly on the wire. Some rtfm and a rethink needed. Not sure how a none POE savvy home user is going to get on with this. Love you byee

Really pleased with this cam.. Image is perfect, day and night. I was surprised how well it stayed on full colour, even at dusk.

Great low light performance. The microphone doesn’t work out of the box and nobody knows how to activate it. Perhaps someone can help.
