Brilliantly done Blackvue, but be gentle on the price
I been using the DR900S for over a year now and it’s been great. However, being hardwired into my car meant constantly depleting my car’s battery to the predetermined threshold using the Power Magic Pro. Kept getting warning messages as I started my car and could barely crank the engine especially during the winter. So I decided to stomach the high price and go for this. It’s a huge pack and very heavy. It’s definitely no cheap plasticky thing. It works very well and now I get roughly 17 hours of parked recording (time lapsed mode) and this is all without affecting my car’s battery. This is plenty for me (and should be for most) whilst parked away from home. If you want more then simply buy the expansion pack.Another great thing is the battery pack recharges whilst you drive and doesn’t take too long either. Install was fairly easy, just replace the Power Magic Pro with this if you have one.Another plus point is that there is a USB slot for powering other devices, so I will be using this pack to power my Wi-fi hotspot in the future. I’ve fed a 3m USB extension lead from the battery pack (which is hidden behind my glove box) into my glove box.I thought about giving 4 stars based on the fact the price is very high. The cost of this battery is half the cost of the original dash cam. Secondly the app which monitors the battery can be a bit finicky. However, the product is great and does the job. It may be expensive, but replacing my car’s battery would’ve cost more and this is a future investment. I can move this battery pack into another car. Maybe Blackvue are targeting a specific target market hence the price. It is a solid piece of equipment and well built hence the 5 stars sticks.

disapointed
At first it was great for what it did but already within 3and a half months the battery is already not holding as much charge. I use about 15% each time i park up for work but when it gets to about 58% left in the battery it uses it all in the exact same amount of time. I left my car at home with no cameras on and the full battery was depleated in just over a week without being used. VERY DISAPOINTED. Would NOT buy one again.

Consider your use case, and how much battery time you need.
To start with, I bought this battery alongside a DR900s-2CH with the aim of unlocking 'Parking Mode' on my vehicle. If you have a different Dash Cam, your mileage may vary.Per above, my reason for purchase was to add 'Parking Mode' to my vehicle, without having to hardwire the camera to the vehicle's own battery. In practice, the installation method is really the same whether you got for a 'Power Magic Pro' or a 'B124X' or other battery system. You will essentially find a place for your battery to hide (typically under a seat or in the glove compartment) and run the included cable through to your vehicle's fuse-box. Plugging this cable into your accessory fuse slot (the one that powers any existing USB sockets and the like) means that the battery will only draw power from the vehicle's battery when it is turned on. When the vehicle is off, the Blackvue battery will not draw additional power.Once you have done that, your battery is installed! It is then a simple case of running the wire from your Dash-Cam to your battery location and plugging it in.With my setup, the B124X was supplying between 14 and 16 hours of power when fully charged. It is important to consider your use case for this reason. I currently drive once a day (due to COVID-19 Lockdown), which means that when I finish driving for the day, I have around 14-16 hours of battery, and inevitably, the battery will run out before I get back in the vehicle. This leaves around 8 hours of parking time with my dash cam turned off.Because of this, I ended up buying a B124E expansion battery as well, which ups my battery powered time to 26-28 hours. This is plenty of battery power to keep the dash-cam running all day, provided that you drive at least once a day, for around an hour or so.My advice is as follows:1. If you are a 9-5 commuter (meaning your car will be parked between say 9am - 5pm and 6pm - 8am), you will likely be able to get by on just the B124X. Bear in mind that if you do not work weekends, then your battery will not be getting these two spaced out charge sessions those days, and will likely shut off overnight.2. If you are a destination driver (meaning you typically drive to a location, spend some time there, and then drive home), you'll probably not get what you need from the B124X, as it will shut off overnight.3. If you are using the B124x (and B124E), you probably want it for 'Parking Mode'. If you're running parking mode, then you really need to figure out a data connection for the camera. Without a data connection, you will have to either sit in the vehicle and review on the camera's WiFi network, or remove the SD card daily to review on a computer. IF, however, you can arrange a data connection, the car will send you a notification when an event is detected, which you can pick up from your own home, and review at your leisure. For this reason, I have opted for a 4G hotspot in the car, run from the B124X's USB slot, but if your vehicle spends most of the day in your drive, you might be able to get away with WiFi only.As a final note, many people consider the Cellink Neo 6 as a direct comparison to this battery. My understanding is that they are made in the same factory, and have similar run-times. The two biggest differences I see are the following:1. Price - Celling is around £30-40 cheaper depending on seller.2. Bonus Function - Blackvue has a USB slot, whereas Cellink does not. If you are going to run a 4G hotspot, this USB slot becomes very important, as you have comfort that the data connection will remain powered as long as the camera does. I also imagine that you could also use the port to charge phones/tablets etc if you were on a road trip or camping. For me, the £40 difference was worth while given my data link solution, but for some, that extra 10% may not be justifiable.

Compatibility is key.
Purchased battery to go with camera . All seemed well for a few miles . But for some reason the battery interferes with wireless signals of some of the wheel sensors of car. This was an extremely costly exercise I went through as sent car to BMW dealership as we thought it was an issue with the car itself .Unfortunately had this and camera professionally fitted aswell , and it has now all been made redundant . And has had to be removed from vehicle.Avoid if you have a high end car with lots of tech onboard .
