My used FB marketplace Razor Dirt Quad 500 needs a new motor. There were 2 options on desertcart. I really didn't want to deal with incompatible parts or returns so I made sure to look at the sticker on the old motor for specs as well as the gear size. Even though the other desertcart motor was half the cost it had the wrong size gear so I went with this one. Shipping took a week and when I opened it I immediately noticed it's way bigger than the old one. Relief set in when I held up the motor and all the mounting holes lined up. Maybe the seller I bought the quad from had replaced the motor once before but instead of spending extra money they went with the smaller motor and that's why it would smoke and ultimately fail?? DO NOT THROW AWAY YOUR OLD MOTOR Transfer these 2 things from your old motor to the new motor Chain tensioner - in the image that says "Same size gear" you can see the two roller wheels in between the motor gear and the axle gear. Those two roller wheels are connected with a spring. The two roller wheels are connected to black L brackets and bolted directly to the motor. Unscrew them and transfer to the new unit. Wire connector - New motor had two loose wires with quick connect terminals crimped on. Take the plastic electric connector off the old wires by pushing down on the tiny metal tab on the quick connect terminal inside the plastic connector. Pull the red and black wires out but remember which wire went where because I did it wrong at first and the quad went in reverse. Bingo bango, 4 more screws for the motor itself and the swap is complete. Kids love it!
