Efficient external Hard drive
Bought this hard drive mainly as backup for comic files. I have the 1 Tb one and it works well. I have not tested durability and water resistance as I always put this in a laptop bag after using. But file transfer is fast enough with the cable it comes with and using USB 3.0 or USB 2 ports in my laptop. I noticed the hard drive's light color turns red for USB 2.0 ports and blue for USB 3.0. The one I have is not SSD so I can hear something rotating once plugged in, which is typical for hard disks of this type.I have noticed that after 1 year's worth of use though, i have been having problems ejecting the drive from my laptop. It keeps saying drive is still in use despite not having any file folder opened. This could be a problem with my laptop only but who knows.Another is the rubber sticking on the sides which is supposed to hold the usb cable. They can be detached quite easily and get lost easily as they are really small. I have only ever been lucky in consistently finding them after a while but it can be a pain.Overall though, the hard drive works as intended which makes it a good item.

Had a few other brands fail on me after few years. Glad to say not happened with SP yet

Impressive, high quality external hard drive.
I was a bit skeptical because I wanted to use this as an external storage drive for my Xbox One and wasn't sure if it would work, but it does. It was very quick and simple to set up with my Xbox, came with all the cabling and even has 3 years warranty with it. It came at a decent price and has impressive protection features like water and impact resistance to a military grade standard. Only slight quarrel was that the USB cable is a bit short but I managed to make it work. I strongly recommend this and hope you feel the same about this.

A Good robust external hard drive.
I found this a surprise to be honest as there is a lot of negative reviews on it. It’s made by Silicon Power and is made in Taiwan, it’s there own brand of drive so it’s not another brand inside the shell.I basically bought this as my Western Digital 1TB external desktop hard drive was getting quite full and thought to back the whole thing up as well as my family could use it to backing all there documents and photos etc. I’ve only had it for the day and can’t comment on the longer down the road shelf life but I copied my whole 1TB hard drive to it and my computer only supports USB 2.0 and the drive I was coping from was also USB 2.0 and with both formatted to NTFS I got about 25mbps on videos and music was running at 18mbps and PlayStation backups at about 22mbps which ain’t bad considering that’s at 2.0 not it’s 3.1 stated. When you plug the drive in for the first time you have a warranty register pdf file and a backup program on the drive, I’d suggest to just quickly format it at NTFS and use Default as the allocation size. If your using it only for windows use NTFS and if on Mac or Linux etc use ExFat.NTFS - Pros = can copy a single file 4GB or more and keeps a journal of drive changes like moving, deleting and copying etc.NTFS - Cons = it’s not very compatible like FAT32 or ExFat but more reliable if using it for just windows.ExFat - Pros = it can copy a single file 4GB or more and is quite compatible where Mac and Linux etc can use it.ExFat - Cons = from what I have read even though being quite compatible it can be unreliable as it doesn’t journal the changes made on the drive getting confused compared to NTFS and I think that’s where errors and it being unstable might be the problem not functioning properly so maybe take note of this and keep it at NTFS if you can. There’s nothing much more to say that it spent 10 hours straight coping all my backups of documents, photos, videos, PlayStation saves, programs, PC games and music etc without a problem. The only thing that does knock a star off is the usb cable attached round it that the silicone clips just fall off easily but it’s quite minor and doesn’t reflect anything on the drive it works fine.I’ve loaded up videos and photos without any problem and ran a PC game off it no problem. I’ve attached some screenshots of speed and driver display for the drive.

Tidy little device
Very nice device. Clean looking, compact and has a nice 'feel'. Bought as a 'Time Machine' for my MacBooks. Very quickly formatted for the Apple devices (less than a minute). I/O is quicker than I had expected, and the cable storage feature is very good. Highly recommended. Will be buying a second one for my wife's MacBooks.

Uses difficult to find USB-A to USB-A connector lead
In use, this Silicon Power Rugged Hard drive is no different than any other of the several routinely used. In physical characteristics it has a few subtle difference, the most obvious being the choice of an on-board USB-A connector; should the original be lost or damaged, replacement will be less easy than almost any alternative. As usual, the lead supplied is quite short (about 20 cm overall). It is supplied formatted as NTFS and therefore compatible only with Windows devices as-is; Mac and other users will probably need to reformat to exFAT for more universal compatibility. The casing surrounding the drive is rugged and a little larger all-round than is typical for the drive format; only the green edges are silicon and resilient while the top and bottom are stiff plastic. There are two small rubber lugs that help retain the cable around the drive casing when not in use but the lugs are not permanently attached and can easily become detached when contacting another object.Pricing is very competitive for the capacity.

Nice, much quicker, rugged, standard USB, no bloatware.
Looks great, seems to read/write faster than I'm used to. Option to add security software and other tool supplied. I'm really happy about this as I only wanted it for home media back up. Cable storage is handy. Is 24mb/s good? You tell me. I'm happy anyhoo.
