Ecological Laboratories Legacy Sinking Food 18lb

Doesn't sink anymore.
This is the third purchase of this product I have made. The first was a 5 pound container and then an 18 pound container. My koi and goldfish were very happy and healthy feeding this product. I too believe that bottom feeding is better for the fish as I have lost several fish to air bladder problems in the past. Most of our fish are now used to eating on the bottom of the pond. I also have a couple of top skimmers that will collect the food unless I shut them down. I purchased another 18 lb container in September and just started feeding a couple of days ago. With the new name on this product (MicrobeLIft) comes a new problem...... It doesn't sink. Even after being in the water for 10 - 15 minutes it still floats. only about 5% sinks.I might try pre-soaking as mentioned by another reviewer but what a pain. I would return this product but it's the only food I have at the time and find that I need to keep our fish healthy going into fall and winter. I can only guess that the quality control, testing of the food or a mix up while packaging that the wrong product was put into the container. At almost $90 bucks for 18 lbs. I'm not to happy and will be looking for a different product in the future.

Sinking Food Floating
We loved our first order of the sinking pellets. The fish definitely love them, and because the pellets sank rather than float, the skimmers did not get clogged up with uneaten food. This current bucket of sinking pellets unfortunately does not all sink, and a large amount of it floats and ends up in the skimmers unless we take the time to scoop out the floating pellets and toss them out. As I said, our first order was great, and we highly recommended it, but our second order was really disappointing.

Most of the food doesn't sink
I have ordered this exact food in the past, however this time it is different. Only a 1/4 of it sinks and the other 3/4 of it floats. This is a huge problem, because the floating food ends up in my bottom tank. I had left over food from the first one I bought and the new food doesn't even feel the same ( not as heavy ). Not happy at all!!!Update: I contacted the manufacturer and gave them some code on the side of the bucket and they stated it was a bad batch. The manufacturer sent me a whole new container and it sank like the first batch I bought.

50/50 floating/sinking
Half the pellets sink, but half float off into my skimmer. It costs twice as much as it should because half the pellets are wasted.

Fish love it and it sinks! My sturgeon and koi both love it!

Best food for ponds
Best food for spring summer fall pond fish...floating food can cause/exacerbate swim bladder problems. This sinks and is better for them overall. We feed this three seasons and occasionally wheat germ when needed in cold water.

Good product.
My pond fish enjoys the food and they are natural bottom feeders and so the food seems very good.

which is excellent.
Product arrived pursuant to order. Approximately 98% of food sinks within 10 seconds, which is excellent.
