You would have to manually take out the battery. The battery life is pretty good if you remove the battery to turn it off. Not much noise distortion but could be better. The size is great for my ear and it is hard to notice it’s in. It amplifies sound effectively and has excellent filtration for background noise. I wish that it still worked. After only 1 and 1/2 months, the unit began to stop working intermittently and then quit altogether. I changed batteries when this happened with no improvement in the defect. It’s a good product, but obviously has a defect. Another problem is there is no on/off switch so you have to remove the battery each time it is not in use.
