**Q: can it be used as main line while trolling with downriger? I know it’s pricey but does it worth to do that?**
A: I never used it as the main line or even thought of it.  You're right its expensive.  I catch my share of bottom dwellers jigging using it as a 8' leader connecting Seaguar 20-30# test fluorocarbon to 50# braid using the Crazy Alberto Knot (see youtube).  Knot, if tied correctly has never failed/broken - the floro has.  Good luck ...
