Easy to install great functionality
Great product, easy install. I suggest like everyone else, watch you tube videos. This will help speed up installation and programming. I had no issues, it took my about 40 min to take apart the car, install, and put the car back together. I installed this on a 2016 Toyota Highlander with a push to start with no issues, it works perfectly. Other things to know that StartX does not tell you, this does have an auto shutoff/timer. After auto starting the car the car will shut off after 15min. Which is awesome and after you start the car by pressing lock 3 times, press it 3 times again and the car will turn off. Happy with the price and the functionality.

Works fantastic in wife's 2017 Highlander XLE! Instructions within.
My wife LOVES this product and it saved us the $800+ dollars the dealer wanted. Let me say that again. My wife LOVES this product and it saved us the $800+ dollars the dealer wanted. and again... My wife LOVES this product and it saved us the $800+ dollars the dealer wanted. and just one more time... My wife LOVES this product and it saved us the $800+ dollars the dealer wanted. The remote start works almost exactly like my Toyota Sequoia Platinum. Click LOCK 3 times and hold down the 3rd a moment and it starts which is great because summer is HOT and getting into a cool car rocks, and winter is COLD and getting into a WARM car rocks! It also keeps the door LOCKED and car safe. It's so convenient. She starts the car from her house and by the time she gets to the car it's ready. To stop it, it will stop on it's own in around 10 minutes or so. I haven't timed it on either car. You open the handle, with keys in hand, and it stops. Or you click lock 3 times and hold down the 3rd lock a moment and it stops. This is the main difference between my Sequoia and the Highlander. The video instructions could be a lot better. There's another manufacturer that gives excellent instructions but I'm glad I bought it here as the product here has a better cable and they offer free returns! Also, the seller contacted me to make sure I had bought the right product and understood what was going on. I appreciated that hands on experience. The installation itself was easy. Opening the dash was scary on a 40k car and these instructions don't quite cover that. You can find it on youtube but you basically: *Press start* WITHOUT putting foot on break, twice. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right, exposing the Phillips screw. The screw is surprisingly loose but the steering wheel is stiff. Then turn it the opposite way and remove that screw. After that, you unlock the steering wheel and pull it up. Then using the tool sent you gently pry apart the two plastic steering wheel parts. They come apart like a cheap snap toy. Then you find the two phillip head screws at the bottom of the dash and remove them. Then, using the pry you undo the side plastic thing. It comes on easily but getting it back on might require the rubber hammer. There is a little plastic thing under the emergency break that my wife took off. I took off the BIG plastic strip that goes along the drivers side. Then unsocketed the 10mm socket that holds it together. This big plastic thing comes off easily and you don't need to take it all the way off. It also goes on easily when you put it back together. Now you locate the black plug under the steering column and simply unplug it and plug it into the awesome cool cord they send. Then you carefully run the cords thru the back which is easy because of the minimal connections. Then you find the white plug in the back. It comes out surprisingly easy and snaps into the same adapter and plug it back into the plug. Remember, all this time your car will have still been on. Then there's a black connector that goes into "the magic box". While pressing down on the button of hope, you plug the black connector in and don't take your finger off the button until it turns blue. When it does I quickly plugged everything in, and it started to blink blue. We pressed the start button on the car (without depressing the brake) and the box turned orange. Maybe this is an error? But it worked. Everything worked perfectly. Everything. So we put it back together and closed the hood because YOU WILL OPEN THE HOOD. If you don't open the hood then you need to change professions and become a mechanic/technician. Snap and screw everything back together in reverse order and MAKE SURE YOU DON'T IMPEDE THE EMERGENCY BREAK. Don't worry, with this great, no extraneous cable cord, you will not. You don't even need the ties. And you are done. This is unbelievably easy. Especially once you reconcile the instructions with the videos and a nervous wife. So, thank you, thank you, thank you!!! -- awesome product! Love ya! Best thing I've bought in a LONG time. My wife is super happy and thinks I'm a superhero. This was her birthday present. Now where can I get a safe and easy LED light upgrade for my 2016 Toyota Sequoia Platinum and all will be well in the world. Except that virus, I guess...

Wow, That's All I Can Say. Wish all after market car parts were this easy to install.
The Remote Starter worked wonderfully on a 2014 Toyota Highlander XLE with PUSH BUTTON START (This will NOT work on a key ignition model). I watched tons of You Tube videos on how to install it include ones I think that were made by Start-X (which was helpful somewhat but didn't explain everything). The best You Tube video was from "trackpalmer" (9/11/2021) which was by far the most comprehensive including the programming part. It comes with everything you need including the trim removal tool. Tips: 1. I would remove the floor trims to get to the bolts holding the lower console panel and the one screw next to it. I didn't have to remove the other screw on the other side as I was able to get to the cables easily. But it's a personal preference. I've seem some videos where they don't bother and just pried the lower panel open with the trim tool but I didn't want to break the tabs or put stress on them but also it gives you more room as you will need to zip tie the cables and module down. 2. I would remove the steering wheel cover next. 3. Go backwards when installing the trim. Will make your life easier I feel. 4. DO NOT yank on the 2 connectors. They have these very small release tabs (you can see them on the t-harness), push them down and then pull the connector. DO NOT pull the cables by the wires. Pull the connector. Which is why you need all the space you can get. 5. Make sure you hear a "CLICK" when pushing in the connector and then gently pull the connector to make sure its seated in correctly. 6. Test, test, test before putting the trim back. I tested both remote start and also normal push button start just to make sure. I tested again after zip tie all cables/module. And then again after trim pieces were replaced. Yes, I'm that OCD. You will see why. The biggest pain point is the trim removal. I get the car manufacturers want the inside to look clean, etc not bolts and screws sticking out, but man what a pain. It will take you longer to remove the trim than the actual connections and programming. Be patient and go slowly. Cons: Which isn't the fault of the device but more the car manufacturer. The lower steering wheel cover didn't seem to go back or fit as nice IMO once I pulled it off. I checked all the tabs and nothing seems to be broken but felt that it was a poor design. Wish I had taken some photos after install before putting back the trim.

Great product with easy install on 2017 Highlander
Great product! Just follow the instructions. There was only one part that was a little unclear. Initially when you plug in the power for the first time while you're holding the programming button you have to make sure you stop it on the right color. I know it says it but I miss that detail so it took a little longer but ultimately it works great!

Works great but boy did it take some time to install
Works great and it only took 45 minutes to install. Instructions were not really clear once you opened up the dash to plug it in. Had to watch Youtube videos to figure out how to install this. For a short synapsis of the install. step 1) remove the plastics from the door sill to the dash and don't forget the nut at the very end by the brake pedal. step 2) Remove the 10mm bolt and 4 screws that holds the bottom dash panel to the upper panel step 3) turn the steering wheel left and remove the screw and then right to remove the second screw. step 4) separate the plastics on the steering wheel and also the upper and lower dash (this will not separate fully (Thanks Toyota) step 5) celebrate that you are half way done and spent about 30 minutes to get to this step by drinking a cold beverage of your choice. step 6) unplug the ignition cable from the steering column and plug it into the T connector and plug the T connector back into the column (refer to video) step 6a) watch the video to verify which damn plug to swap out of 5 identical plugs (about 5 to 8 minutes) and router the cabling back into this cavity (this will be the final resting place for the unit) step 7) unplug the correct plug and plug it into the T connector and plug the T connector into the module you unplugged from step 8) (this is not covered very well in the instructions) While pressing the programming button on the side of the box, plug in the black connector on the wiring harness into its socket. Don't let go of the button step 9) the lights on the box will cycle through a pattern of red, yellow, red/blue, and blue this pattern continues until you release the button, release the button when the blue light is on. once you release the button you can insert the remaining connecters to their sockets. step 10) press the push to start button twice without the brake pedal and wait for the blue LED to flash (once it is flashing it is programmed) turn the car off and test by pressing lock 3 time slowly ( about 1-2 seconds between presses) step 11) spend 15 minutes and a couple of cold drinks to tie up the device and put the dash and door sills back together. All in all this was not hard but my plastics would not line up correctly on putting this together. Now I want to say that the install of this module was just as hard on my Ford F150 but it was not. On my Ford it took 5 minutes to install. I got in the Truck unclipped the wire harness from the back of the OBDII port plugged in the T harness, plugged in the black connector, turned on the key and released when the LED was blue, plugged in the other connectors, shut down the truck, tested, and the zip tied everything under the dash. 5 minutes (10 minutes tops to play with the starter to show family and neighbors) (it was also -2F outside when I installed these devices). I had no disassembly to do on the truck other than to unclip the OBDII port. I hope this helps someone and I would not recommend doing this in cold weather due to the fact that the door of the car remains open because the lower dash assembly blocks the door (or you can just crush it) but this is a good spring time project or heated garage.

I don't do dishes
As a matter of fact, I hate doing the dishes. Laundry tends to pile up and I'm not exactly a great house keeper but I'm pretty good at building computers and troubleshooting. So, installing a remote start, like this one, is kinda right up my alley. I did watch a few different videos and the install seemed pretty straightforward. I thought it might me 20-30 minutes to install. So, I gathered my tools and Start-X remote starter kit and headed out to the garage. I began with popping off the dash panels. Some videos removed more panels than others and I came to find out later, I removed more than necessary. My mistake #1. After removing the panels, I followed a video and the booklet that was provided in the kit and began to connect the harness to the ECU. This looked fairly easy and since I have small hands, I had no problem attaching the harness and module. My mistake #2. After attaching the harness and module, your next step is to program the module by following a few easy steps. Then, it's done right? No.. not so fast there sister... The module was supposed to flash blue... instead it didn't flash or show any lights. The dash console informed me that there was an electrical error. Error? I unclipped the harness and redid the steps again. Four tries later and still didn't work. But that electrical error kept flashing after each try. Then I panicked... Did I just fry my ECU? No... it wasn't that drastic of a mistake but a mistake I did make. They don't have a support phone number so if you need help you can only email. Which was very frustrating. After back and forth emails, I was told to remove the harness and check the tiny pins inside one of the clips. Check if any are bent. Well... if you look at my last photo. One was bent. I had to figure out a way to unbending it with doing more damage to the pins. I used a tweezer to sorta straighten it out. I reattached the harness and module. Then one last try at programming or they would send me a new harness. It worked! That was my 3rd mistake. Not checking the pins before clipping it to the ECU. I should of checked it before I even tried to clip it. Now... my last mistake was doing this install to late in the morning and in the summer. I began at 8am, I live in Phoenix Az, 3 hours later it was 110° and I was trying to reattach the dash panels in a hot car with black leather seats. This was, by far, the worst part of the whole process. Reattaching the too many panels I took off. Also, they don't go on the same way the videos show how they came off. At least, not for my vehicle. Plus, if I didnt need my car... I would of lit a match and walked away 🔥 But all in all... I'd buy it again. I'd just take it somewhere or hire someone to install it. Not necessarily because it was hard to do. Because by the time I was done. I looked like a red sweaty tomato 🍅 **2017 Toyota Highlander XLE

Even for the experienced, the instructions are poor at best.
I have only left one negative review on Amazon in the past, but this deserves one. First to be clear, I am a experienced mechanic, work on airplanes, built my own house, and typically fix my own cars. However, I am not experienced at taking a dashboard apart and would be devasted if I had cracked the plastic or worse on the dashboard. So, for those of you that think the 3 minute video they claim is "step-by-step," be sure to know it is not. There are 3 addtional screws and side channel to remove on a Highlander they do not show or point out if you don't want to suffer a damaged dash board. How did I discover this you might ask? After stuggling for a while, I had to go to a different manufacturer's video who DID have step by step instructions on how to take the dashboard apart as well as narrating the directions along the way. The video this company uses is clearly inadequate...especially if you are inexperienced OR experienced. Certainly the video makes installation easy...and it is once you get the dashboard apart. Secondly, most of us work during the day and require the car to be home to work on it. So, after getting the harness in, and finding the module didn't program, I tried to reach them. I couldn't even send an email after their business hours! So there sits my wife's car with the dashboard torn apart and a worthless harness plugged in and no help until next week. Ugh! Their website is awful and offers no help whatsoever. There are no FAQS or trouble shooting tips except one in the little pamphlet that comes with the unit giving instructions on how to reset the module if it doesn't program. Well, that did not work either! Finally, when you open the box there is a disclaimer that states: "Most returns happen because of installation errors." To be sure, if their instructions were excellent, there would be fewer returns then...right? I must admit that I am baffled at the reviews, I paid more for this unit than the competition as I thought I was "getting what I paid for." Apparently not. Don't take my word for it though. Look at the video of the competitor versus the 3 minute music blaring video that has no narrative for this unit and you decide. I hope this gets resolved, but I presume the unit is going back...this has been a total pain. Finally to be fair, if the company reaches out appropriately, I will add an addendum and update my review.

⭐️ Easy Installation, Works Perfectly on Toyota Highlander 2017
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I am very happy with this remote starter. Even though I am not a technician, I was able to install it easily on my Toyota Highlander 2017. The installation videos were very helpful, and the process was truly plug and play. All the connectors fit perfectly, with no hassle at all. The device works perfectly and exactly as described. My only concern is not related to this product. In my car, the front and rear windshield heaters turn off automatically when the car is turned off and then started again. This was the case even before installing this device. I wish Toyota allowed these heaters to stay on after restarting the car. If that option existed, everything would be perfect. Overall, I highly recommend this product.

10 min install - works like a dream
So easy to install and works perfect. Took 10 minutes to install in a highlander with a screw driver and 10mm socket. Everything else is included. Very impressed with the design and function of it.
