It's better! *by S***R on Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2017* I am not new to katatsus. I have one, the largest size you can buy, in my bedroom. It's 600 watts but has variable temperature settings, which I never turn up higher than medium. So, when I looked for one to double as a coffee table in my living room, I knew this would work just fine. But I assumed that the control on the cable would work the same way the one on my large one does. It doesn't, it is simply an on-and-off switch. Underneath the table, however, in convenient reach, there is a rotary dial that controls a thermostat that sets a desired temperature. Since the only writing on this dial is in Japanese, the only way I know this is because I have a watt/amp meter. It shows that as soon as the heater is switched on it goes to the maximum amount of watts but the thermostat will trigger the heater to switch on and off when the temperature gets too hot or too cold based on where we turn the dial. This will save money depending on your comfort level. Also good for savings is the fact that that there is no surge or peak in the first 15 seconds (it never rose above 300 watts), which should determine how much you pay for a Japanese power conversion stepdown. Another reviewer said she was advised to buy the 2000W step-down, but it works just fine with my 1000W one which is less than half the price and, based on my meter reader, should work just as well with a 500-watt stepdown, costing even less. The table surface is easy to clean and fits my space perfectly. Also, the seller was very helpful and communicative in making sure I got it in time for a long distance visit from my family. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ much to my delight as it's been quite cold *by H***A on Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2018* Arrived two weeks early, much to my delight as it's been quite cold. Super easy to put together. It was mostly self-explanatory and the instructions are easy to understand despite being entirely in Japanese. Nice and warm, the heat is adjustable so you can find your β€œsweet spot”. The plug is two-pronged so if that's the only extension cord you have it's alright. Surface of the table does not get hot, it warmed to room temperature after being delivered from outside but did not get hotter. It'll easily fit a person on each side, maybe two on the long sides if they're skinny/children. Cord should be sufficient to reach the wall in any setup, except mine where the breaker on one side of the room is almost overloaded so I had to plug it in on the opposite side, but that's entirely my fault.
