The Beast =)
Wow, this is a serious cleaver! Heavy, solid... a beast. Definitely for chopping larger bones/roasts, such as beef, venison, pork. Need strong hands to wield this, smaller wrists will probably tire quickly even though the balance provides comfort while using. Also, you'll need to have a chopping block or large cutting board, as this will penetrate thinner boards. Fit and finish is good, looks great...cleaning is simple as the wood handle appears to be sealed with some type of varnish (guessing food-friendly shellac) allowing you to submerge in soapy water or wipe down with a soapy cloth then rinse. Great value for the money.

Solid, Sharp, and Powerful — Great Value for Heavy-Duty Chopping!
This Juvale meat cleaver is a beast in the kitchen! The build quality is solid, and the blade is sharp and thick, making it perfect for chopping through meat, poultry, and even small bones with ease. It feels durable and well-made, especially for the price — definitely great value for money. It is a bit on the heavier side, but that actually helps with the chopping power. Just takes a little getting used to if you don’t typically use heavy knives. The wooden handle offers a firm grip, and overall, it feels like a professional tool at a budget-friendly price. If you’re looking for a strong, effective cleaver that gets the job done, this one won’t disappoint!

Workhorse
Razor sharp! Nice and heavy, very comfortable to use. I use this for anything I don’t wish to mess up my other knives on.

Great Knife for a great price
For the price, this cleaver can not be beat. It is a bone splitting machine. It is on the heavy side, easy of use might me tough for some. You will need to have some arm strength to use this for an extended period of time. It came plenty sharp and needed no sharpening out of the package. For the price and weight i think it is very well balanced. Functionality is works perfect. I didn't give it 5 stars because on the wood handle. It is a little rough around the edges. But that being said I would totally buy this knife again.

Very impressive, BUT
For the price, this is a very impressive cleaver. Well made, definitely heavy duty, very large and heavy. I think that if my husband saw me using this to whack away at poultry bones, he would have a heart attack or flea our home! But, seriously, this was more than I needed and a bit intimidating. So, I am returning for something smaller. But, again, it was very well made and a great value.

People who leave poor reviews for this dont understand how cleavers work.
This is a great cleaver, especially at this price point. If you left a bad review for handle related problems, that is understandable, but the wood handle is a natural product, and they sometimes have flaws. If you left a bad review because the blade isnt as sharp as a normal kitchen knife, because it is heavy, because it is unbalanced, or because the blade steel isnt super hard, you dont know how to use a cleaver, or what it is used for. A cleaver is a hacking/chopping tool, not a slicing tool like a normal kitchen knife. Dont think of a cleaver like a knife, it is not a knife, think of it as a specialized kitchen axe. An axe/cleaver is meant to be swung and impact, this means it needs to have weight and forward balance, it needs to have a steep durable edge angle (not a shallow slicing angle), and it needs to be made of relative soft steel compared to a pure slicing tool, so that when pushed to the edge it will bend and deform, rather than shatter and send sharp pieces flying everywhere. This cleaver is a perfect tool for what it was designed to do. If are looking for a sharp, light, slicing knife that that is in the general shape of a cleaver, but not used for hacking through heavy bones. search for a Chinese chef knife or a vegetable cleaver, as that is what those types of knives are commonly called.
