Great Starter Monitor for Gaming and Productivity – With a Few Quirks
The ASUS VG248QG is a solid 24" monitor that's perfect for gamers and multitaskers alike. The 165Hz refresh rate is buttery-smooth, and the 0.5ms response time makes fast-paced gameplay incredibly responsive. It’s truly plug-and-play, which makes it an awesome choice for anyone setting up their first gaming rig or dual-use workstation. Build quality feels sturdy, and the widescreen display with G-SYNC compatibility performs great out of the box. Picture clarity is excellent for a 1080p monitor in this price range. That said, color accuracy can be hit or miss depending on your expectations. Some users love the vibrant display, but others may find the colors slightly off and the brightness a bit harsh, especially in dim environments. If color precision is critical (e.g., for photo editing), you might need to tweak the settings or consider calibration. Overall, this monitor delivers fantastic performance and value for the price — especially if your main focus is smooth, responsive gameplay.

Affordable, Top Quality Gaming Monitor
I was honestly surprised by how much quality came from a $120 monitor. This is definitely a buy and I would buy more if I had a bigger desk. The ASUS VG248QG 24" G-SYNC Gaming Monitor is a fantastic choice for gamers seeking a competitive edge. With its 165Hz refresh rate and 0.5ms response time, this monitor delivers incredibly smooth and responsive gameplay, making it ideal for fast-paced games where every millisecond counts. One of the standout features is the G-SYNC compatibility, which ensures that screen tearing and stuttering are minimized, providing a seamless and immersive gaming experience. The Full HD resolution (1920x1080) on a 24-inch screen strikes a good balance between clarity and performance, ensuring that games look sharp without putting too much strain on your graphics card. The monitor's ergonomic design is another plus, offering tilt, swivel, pivot, and height adjustments to find the perfect viewing angle. The build quality feels robust and durable, which is typical of ASUS products. Additionally, the monitor includes several gaming-centric features like ASUS GamePlus and GameVisual, which enhance the gaming experience through customizable crosshairs, timers, and color settings. On the downside, the monitor's color accuracy and viewing angles are not as impressive as those of higher-end IPS panels, but this is a common trade-off for the speed and responsiveness of a TN panel. Also, while the built-in speakers are a convenient addition, they lack the depth and clarity that dedicated external speakers or headphones can provide. Overall, the ASUS VG248QG offers excellent performance for its price point, making it a solid investment for gamers looking to upgrade their setup. Its combination of high refresh rate, low response time, and G-SYNC compatibility makes it a standout option in the crowded market of gaming monitors.

F$%!ING AMAZING!
I want to start this review with the fact that this product is a TN panel, so if amazing color means a lot to you, then take my review with a grain of salt, because I am a FPS snob. I hate motion blur and ghosting, so color accuracy doesn't mean as much to me. To keep it simple, this monitor has basically no ghosting/motion blur whatsoever set at 144hz. The monitor is capable of 165hz, but most of the stuff I play barely runs above 144fps anyway, so I just run it 144hz. Just a personal preference. The color on this panel isn't terrible, but as mentioned, it is a TN type panel. I will say the color out of the box looks terrible, but after some fiddling with settings, it looks pretty good. I have an IPS of this same brand and model and you can tell a difference between how the colors pop, but it's not so extreme that this panel looks bad. This monitor does have the option to add overlays such as FPS counter, crosshairs, or a timer. However, it seems you can only use one at a time. Kind of lame, but in most practical situation you're not going to need to use more than one at a time, and most likely you won't need to use any of them, so it's a nice feature for a handful of games. Keep in mind this could be operator error, but I'm pretty sure you can only use one function at a time. Overall it is a decent monitor, but what sells it for me is the refresh rate and fast response times allowing this monitor to have virtually zero ghosting/motion blur.

AN ABSOLUTE BEAST OF A MONITOR!
Wow...wow & WOW. I've owned this monitor for about 3 weeks now & couldn't be any happier. I've spent ALOT of time tinkering with ALL the settings on the monitor along with my pc hardware. I was able to get 165hz with both gsync enabled/disabled & had no problems at all. I've never really been into gsync due to latency issues. Well this monitor does an amazing job at eliminating tears & input lag! I couldn't any find major reasons why i should disable it besides some minor input lag. Ill be using it for now until i notice any problems & will report if any do appear. Notice: There are some reports of Gsync not working properly causing artifacts, flickering & black screens to appear on screen. Thats manily due to the Gsync software & not the monitor at fault. Multiple threads are available on how to adjust & help fix those issues via software. (Having all Nvidia/GPU/Motherboard drivers up to date helps with any instability issues that may be occurring.) The monitor does come with alot of features that are not really needed or used by the average consumer, but they are nice to have nonetheless. Viewing angles are pretty good for a tn panel The picture get a bit washed out at an angle but colors stay pretty accurate. Compared to previous tn monitors ive seen this one holds up pretty well. Overall Rating: 5 stars +1 Performance +1 Design +1 Compatibility +1 Features +1 Price I was a bit iffy about the price when i first purchased it. I do feel like this is a $249.99 monitor at the end of the day. But its an amazing monitor packed with features & delivers with amazing quality/performance for the price. Also came with no dead pixels/defects which is a big plus. P.s. These monitors dont come out of the box ready to plug & play. Some tinkering is needed, with picture modes, colors & settings. Take your time fixing it up to your liking & you'll be happy with the results.

GREAT MONITOR BUT…
Giving it 4 starts because for gaming this thing is AMAZING! Super fast, fluid, BUT… the image quality is so bad, watching YouTube videos, or anything that has picture in it, quality is bad, that’s why 4 starts, but the rest everything is good, responsiveness the controls and the size are perfect, super easy to use!

I am... blown away! Get this monitor!
OK so I went in with low expectations, thinking I was gonna regret the purchase. Because this was one of the few monitors still available on Amazon, COVID has really hit the tech market bad and most of the 144hz monitors are all sold out everywhere due to slower imports from China. well anyways I am happy to report that I am 100% happy with my purchase. I went from a VG248QE from 2013 to this model, And its a night and day difference compared to the other Asus monitor. OK lets get this out of the way, This is a TN panel, But you may have noticed other reviewers saying it has dull colors out of the box. This is true, But a simple color adjustment in the saturation and contrast easily fixes the issue. I would even go as far as to say this monitor has better colors than my IPS from dell which I use regularly for photoshop editing. I have literally no complaints about the colors at all. This monitor has probably the lowest motion blur or ghosting of any high refresh rate monitor I have ever used. Even if you are actively looking for ghosting/trailing you cant find any at all. The image is so smooth on the screen its comparable to viewing a real life image in motion. Games look so butter smooth its like my eyes got a huge upgrade. This monitor is worth the price alone just for it supporting G-sync, Because most other G-sync monitors are in the $300+ price range. Also this monitor supports 165Hz out of the box despite me believing you needed to overclock it to achieve this refresh rate, It had the 165Hz option right there in the Nvidia control panel and activated without a single issue. Final Thoughts: I just cant say enough good things about this monitor. Absolutely zero motion blur or ghosting and it has one of the cleanest moving images of any monitor I have used int he past. Seriously Dont debate on getting it, JUST BUY IT! You wont regret it. Other tech info: this monitor had a manufacture date of June 2020 for those of you who want to know if this is a newer model.

Nice overall monitor
I bought this to be my second monitor with my other Asus that is a different model from this one. I can say that even though I was never unhappy with my first monitor, this one has a much sharper and clear picture by comparison. I didn't even have to tune it out of the box as it came with pretty decent default settings. My monitor also came with a DisplayPort cable, which was a welcome change from DVI in 2020, or even hdmi. Gaming experience on this monitor is quite enjoyable and just working on it is also fine. The only negative for is the location of the control buttons. Due to how I have it set up, they are hard to reach on the side, but I don't expect everyone to have the same problem. The outward appearance of the monitor is not the most outstanding you can get, but it is also pretty good. It does have a bevel around it, but it is quite thin and I personally might even prefer it this way. I have it mounted, so if you are buying it with that intention, VESA 100mm mounts work just fine with it. It has a nice flat cut out on the back for mounting purpose, but you will need to take out the stand from it (which is normal I guess). Overall quite a decent monitor, good price and good picture quality and performance. Oh, and it is definitely 144Hz. You can change it in the video card driver to 165Hz, but since my other monitor is 144 as well, I just keep it at this frequency to not get distracted by the difference.

Great Monitor
I'm not a big PC gamer or anything so I'm sure others may have different feelings. But I love this monitor. Yes, it does take a little time investment to tweak the color settings to get them to your liking. But it is not a heavy lift, and would be true of any monitor. I've played MTG Arena, Diablo III, Dark Souls III and The Witcher III on this and they all look amazing. Great color, smooth motion. Again, for a casual gamer, this monitor is great. I also use it daily for work, video editing, graphic design, and general web browsing. Again, all look fantastic. I have saved a few different picture settings as favorites and I toggle between them based on what I'm doing, but that was a recent thing. Honestly, you can really set this to a nice middle ground and forget it and be very happy. The monitor itself offers a ton of flexibility with tilt, orientation and height adjustments. I love the added feature of built in cable management into the stand. The built in speakers are garbage, but are there while you wait for your $20 external speakers to arrive. Not a big knock. I was going to buy a second one to replace my older monitor, but the price jumped up a bit and I decided to hold off. I would still buy the one at full price, but since I don't really NEED to replace the other monitor yet, figured I'd hold off. When the time comes though, I will absolutely buy this one again.

A steal of value at its price!
I like to wait and use my product for a while before writing a review for the sake of longevity. I have had this monitor for almost 2 years and I have had no issues in its condition on long term and has been kept in a very good state. I would like to mention that this monitor is an absolute steal when on sale (I got mine for about $200). I play video games but also work with graphic design and this monitor worked wonderfully for me in both. --Color Accuracy: Display Colors is 16.7M, much higher than other monitors which tend to lean at an inconsistent white balance. The screen is also nicely bright (can get really bright) but it can be all adjusted to your liking! --Picture Quality: It is very clear for the 1080p model. --Refresh Rate: Nice and smooth with 165hz no ghosting, the 1ms response time also helps with gaming. --Stand: The monitor can swivel, pivot and be adjusted with height. The monitor can also be wall mounted. It was very easy to assemble. --Viewing Angle: When looking from the sides, the viewing angles on this monitor is definitely not ideal, but it can be easily adjusted as it should always be facing you for the best angle.

Excelente compra
Muy buen monitor, llevo poco más del año usandolo y sigue como el primer día que llegó, lo único malo son las bocinas pero le puedes conectar un auxiliar y ponerle unas aparte
