Wonderful for card making
Yes, it is true that half the sheets are a solid color but the half that are patterned are gorgeous because of the gold highlights. They cut really well in cardmaking dies and these turned out better than expected…

Half of the sheets are printed, half are solid colors.
I wasn't expecting half of the sheets to be solid colored, and lacking the substance of the printed sheets.

Quality is wonderful to my novice eyes and hands, but...
I think this is wonderful origami paper. I've folded with a few different types (the very cheap, very thin, easily torn kind, the almost plastic long strips for folding paper stars, average quality regular paper) but this is probably my favorite kind of folding paper. These squares are smaller than the more common origami paper one might find at an arts and crafts store, but not too terribly difficult to fold. Again, the quality is great - it almost feels like a cross between paper and cloth, so it definitely doesn't tear as easily. But, as other reviewers have stated, between each sheet of washi paper, is a thinner, unpatterned sheet. Maybe it's there to offer protection to the washi paper, or maybe not, but it has a nice enough feel to it (with a bit of the washi feel - more of a cross between washi paper and regular, thin origami paper), so I use these sheets, as well. It works fine for folding - not as nice as the patterned sheets, but much better than the "bottom of the barrel" origami paper. Here come the "but...". This is simply a matter of personal taste, but I find the patterns on these sheets to be singularly busy, perhaps a bit gaudy, and not very attractive to my eyes. I have uploaded a picture, so you can see more of what I'm talking about. To each their own, and all that. If I had known what I was buying, pattern-wise, I would have kept looking, but I'm still happy enough with my purchase.

Beautiful paper, but patterns are useful for specific purposes.
Summary:I used this to practice origami paper folding. I have about 15 years of experience in the area. The patterns, while beautiful are very decorative and useful for more thematic purposes. Small in size, but can be arranged/connected to form larger compositional pieces.Pros:1) Quality paper.2) Nice patterns.3) Fabric like texture.4) The folds are soft, not super sharp.Cons:1) Not very many sheets of the same pattern.2) The patterns are not for everyone, they can be busy looking for some users.3) The complex patterns affect how the form of the origami is perceived.4) I could not figure if this is acid free paper.

Absolutely gorgeous patterns and quality paper!
I am new to the world of origami so this is the first set of quality paper I have purchased. Although my earlier sets were easier to fold crisply, this paper has a beautiful weight to it and the 20 pieces of paper with the patterns and gold highlights are stunning. I don't even want to use several, they are so beautiful! They remind me of the breathtaking kimonos you occasionally see in photos. The smaller size is perfect for small projects (I'm working on some crane earrings right now), though I wish this paper came in larger sizes, like a 6" or even an 8" to make boxes.Overall, although it can be a little tricky to work with, this paper will help you achieve gorgeous pieces, and I highly recommend it.

Beautiful and exquisitely detailed
These are really beautiful and exquisitely detailed origami sheets. They are paper, but the paper almost feels like fabric. Each piece feels like a swatch cut from a kimono. And the designs are the kind of designs you would see on kimono fabric. I cut the paper into strips and rolled each strip into a paper bead, and they came out looking really good. My only complaint is that most of the sheets are dominated by the color red. I would have liked to see more variety in the colors. They all have gold details too, which adds a really elegant touch. I really love these.

pretty
my first set of origami paper, it's a bit thick ( kind of clothlike) and hard to fold, but it looks really nice once you get the hang of it

Eye Catching
20 sheets of patterned origami paper, and 20 sheets which have no pattern. Look closely at the product photo and you can see the "filler" papers in between the patterned ones. This is OK with me because these papers are exquisite. This is my favorite gold embellished paper. The texture is lush, easy to fold, and produces a crisp fold.I'm back here to order more. Apparently the larger sizes are more popular, so I'm glad to have found such beautiful paper in the size which is perfect for my project.
