White Mother-of-Pearl (MOP) Shell Flexible Adhesive Veneer (size: 9.4" x 5.5" ; thickness 0.007")

I had a make your own fountain pen kit that I wanted to create something quite different. I absolutely love the iridescent quality of shells, paua, abalone, mother of pearl, but knew that traditional shell material would not work for my project (too thick and stiff). I found this flexible veneer and was quite pleased with how it looks as well as how flexible it is. First, I had to spray paint the copper tubing that is the base and cap unit of the fountain pen a satin white and let those pieces dry completely before applying this MOP veneer. It was very easy to apply, though I did take my time to ensure I applied this smoothly and evenly. It worked just as I had hoped - the underlayer of satin white paint allowed the thin veneer to shine with the MOP white glow I was wanting. To finish the pen's base and cap, I added a thin layer of resin to protect the MOP finish. I think it turned out really pretty using this wonderfully flexible MOP veneer!

This is not a roll, look at the dimensions… this item is very very small

The recipient is crafty. Ultimately and hopefully the Mother of Pearl will enhance a wood box.

Lovely product. I used it to add a pretty accent to an Ikea shoe cabinet. I do want to mention that when you peel the backing off, the mother of pearl is TRANSLUCENT. Dark drill-holes and so on will show through if you don't block them off first (I used small white mailing labels)

I purchased this thinking it was a roll, only for it to be a small sheet. I was planning to use it for a costume i was building and it really put a damper on my whole idea. i will still use it but for another piece but will not being spending this much for a small sheet.

These veneer sheets were easy to apply, look great. I plan to get more of these vaneers to coordinate other pieces of furniture.

Note that it is shattered and you can see a mesh through it on light or dark backgrounds. Possibly okay for decorating an ash tray for granny?
