No-Drill Laptop Mount for the Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-650, F-750 & Excursion RAM-VB-185-SW1

DO NOT waste your money on any other mounts for your laptop. I purchased one from a different maker and it was poorly designed, difficult to maneuver, flimsy and wobbly and offered absolutely no security. This RAM MOUNT is a BEAST! It installed very easily, is solid as a rock and you can purchase a separate locking security kit for it. if you drive with a laptop and you want it to remain steady and want it secure, THIS IS THE MOUNT YOU WANT! Get this mount and the locking kit and you WILL be satisfied!

I purchased the Mobile Desk No-Drill Laptop Mount for a recent roadtrip I took halfway across the country. I was going to be riding as passenger for the whole trip, and working from the road while we drove. I was definently hesitant to spend the money knowing I could probably just prop my computer up on pillows, but this turned out to be the best investment I could make for that road trip. As for assembly, my boyfriend assembled the mount and did say it was "fairly easy". The directions that come with the package were not as helpful though as was googling a YouTube video on how to put this mount together. There are a lot of parts and it might take you an hour or so (and a few glasses of wine perhaps), but you will get it. If you have ever assembled a piece of furniture from Ikea, you know what I'm talking about. In the end though once you have it assembled, this mount works wonderfully with very minimal movement when driving on a bumpy road/highway. You are able to unscrew the handle part that holds the computer once you are done using....I did that whenever I had my computer off to avoid any serious injury if we were to get in a car wreck. I do recommend limiting your use of this in the way that I did (as a passenger while someone else was driving) just because I do think this could cause you to get really hurt if you were to wreck. It is a very SOLID, WELL BUILT mount and could cause some damage if your face was to hit it! Most people will probably be using this while they are parked though and for that, this Mobile Desk earns an A+ from me. Overall, I see myself getting a ton of use out of this. Makes working remotely really easy because you can comfortably get work done between appointments. Also, since it is higher up and adjustable, it greatly reduces the amount of stress you normally put on your neck and back looking down at the computer screen. Based on my personal experience, I feel very comfortable recommending this product!

Not terribly hard to install. Make sure you use the right screws on the tray or you'll have to redo it like I did.

I just bought and installed this in my company truck along with the ram secure n motion kit and the power supply caddy so this review will be for all three prrducts. II've been product searching for about the last three months for a laptop mount that would fit my needs as well as facillitatate a future move from my current F-450 to an F-550 super duty work truck and the Ram certainly appears to fit that bill. The idea of a no drill process also was appealing though I'm unsure with the other products on the market what needs to be drilled (as a side note I am a field service mechanic and have several drills so that was not the issue, but who wants to drill when a product is offered that eliminates that process). Shipping was fast and the overall packaging was as I would have expected with hardware packaged in plastic with the corresponding component to which it belongs with. Overall the directions were a bit bland but manageable for anyone with a bit of common sense. As for hardware supplied (nuts, screws and bolts) I'd give an overall 7.5 out of 10 but this is mostly from a preferential perspective as the supplied hardware completely assembled the entire thing without issue. I did use blue torque seal on all of the hardware even though the majority of the nuts supplied are of the nylon lock nut type but again this is just a personal preference. The power caddy bolted right up and I really like the thought that went into the molding of the tray to include slots for the nylon nuts to slide into which lined up perfectly for the inserted 4 screws I used to bolt it up. Certainly not a necessity but definately cleans up the truck appearance with plenty of slots to facilitate zip ties to zip up excess power cord from the caddy to my inverter, so my thought for anyone purchasing the above mount then spend the additional 11 bucks for the caddy. The secure-n-motion kit worked as advertised and locks my lap top to the tray. I purchased this strictly for a security feature and wanted to make it as difficult as possible for the punks of the world with sticky fingers. Unfortunately, I have a bit of dissapointment that nothing else locks and Mr. Sticky fingers has nothing more to do than turn the screw nob in one of three places in order to walk off with my laptop as well as the mount its secured to. So for me this will leave me unlocking and removing my laptop anytime I park someplace public. I would love to see future development of a system which locks up everything, even knowing that if its wanted bad enough they're gonna get it but if I could make it a bit harder and a bit longer for a person to get it out then its certainly worth the added cost.

One of the most complicated orders I have ever done! So confusing on what you get with each item or even the explanation of those items. I returned 4 ordered items due to fact it didn't fit the products sold, or the kit already had the part to begin with, so ordered because I didn't know what was with the purchase and what was not. The phone adapter order had no way of attaching to the main kit frame. The security addition order was a rod and a locked key assembly that was supposed to keep your product from being stolen and keep it from moving around while driving over bumps. As far as the security kit was, all you had to do is unscrew the swivel and take the laptop. It was also described as motionless while driving keeping the laptop from bouncing around. Not at all! Sent all the accessories back along with the security kit as it was worthless. The only reason I would buy it again is because no one else had anything to offer on the internet. If you order one, only order the main kit. I would put a value of $150 on this total package. Oh, forgot to mention that I called Ram direct to help me out with the order beforehand, and to find out which pieces I needed. In a nut shell he blew me off and said to call one of there distributors. Called the distributor, they told they have no idea of anything as they had to call Ram and ask all the same questions I asked him for clarifications. Plus there cost was more than Ram purchase directly. Nobody is of any help with this. I even had to go online for a video instruction because there directions where useless. Very frustrating working with Ram and there directions. However, what choice do we have and I Think they know this or he would have been more helpful after spending over $450 with accessories and returning all but the No drill unit itself. Amazon took everything back without questions, but I doubt if I ordered this from Ram if that would have happened. Ram mount was very easy to install and very durable the mounts that come with it are more for a tough book computer but when you buy the accessory kit with it it comes with different mounts that perfectly fit any laptops such as hps and lenovos

I am in the field quite a bit and don't have the opportunity to make it back to the office to complete paperwork. This has been a great addition to the work truck, allowing me to get files completed between jobs.
