Better than advertised!
I'm a "not very good", 64 year old runner. I needed new running shoes so I did some research. I selected the Brooks Ghost 12's as I need a good cushion, good fit and a good weight. I have been having pain in my hips, knees, ankles and have had trouble with my shins. Also, despite my age, I still feel I can run faster than I have since I started 5 years ago. With these shoes, I no longer have the leg pain. I am running much better as my stride has improved due to no pain . My legs don't feel as tired during or between runs. I have honestly been struggling to run faster. Now that fall is approaching, the weather is cooling with lower humidity. I'm sure that is the main reason why I am running faster. But these shoes are also helping a lot. Since I got them, I have run faster times in the 1, 2, 4 and 5 mile road runs than in the past 4 years. My next goal is in the 5K. I haven't beat that time yet but plan to soon. These shoes are just what the Dr. ordered.

BEST SHOE EVER MADE
Have had ghost 12 - amazing. No other ghost can compare. The support in feet and back is unsurpassed. I have other brooks but ALSO BUT my experience the other brooks do not stack up to the ghost 12. Donโt know why they deviated from the 12โs perfection. Ian a distance walker and Iโm On my feet for years at my work. I am beyond happy I was able to get them on Amazon ! Brand new in my size and they are so pretty too. Iโve had my previous pair for 5 years. They are still going fine but ohhhhh the comfort of a new pair. LOVE THEM

Dad loved these shoes -- said the narrow size was perfect!
I bought these for my elderly father, who has narrow heels. I had noticed that Dad was lacing his shoes up quite tight, and decided to try to find him some narrow sneakers instead. These shoes were absolutely perfect! The narrow width allowed him to better adjust the laces for proper fit and good comfort and stability as he walked. He walked easier and beter wearing properly fitted shoes. PLEASE make a version of these shoes with hook-and-loop straps instead of laces. Dad's hands struggle with laces at all now, and I had to change him over to shoes with hook-and-loop straps. I have found none that come in narrow widths, so Dad is once again wearing shoes that are a little too wide, reducing the stability of his step. A strapped version of these shoes would have been ideal!

Brook's Ghost 12 Running Shoe
This shoe was recommended to me by my podiatrist. I have been having trouble with the toenails on my left foot. I went to see the Dr and after sending in clippings of my nails to a high tech lab, the results were that there was nothing that was causing my nails to look bad except that I wasn't wearing the best shoes for my feet. I bought the shoes and had to get 2 sizes larger than I usually wear because the shoe runs small, contrary to what the suggestion shows on the websites. I still have to take the pills the Dr gave me and treat my nails at home with a special treatment. But the shoes fit perfectly now! I love the style and color. They are very comfortable. The company is now making Ghost 13 shoes but other people are complaining that the new shoe doesn't fit correctly and are uncomfortable. I bought a 2nd pair of my same shoe so that I can continue wearing them for a long time.

Great - after 2 week break in! First time Ghost user, second time Brooks user
I bought my first pair of Brooks (Launch 4) in 2017 and have put a loooooot of miles on them in that last 3 years. The tread is basically gone, so I decided it was time for a new pair. I loved the Launch 4's and the brand so I decided to try a different shoe in the family and went with the Ghost 12. One of the reasons I chose this shoe was honestly because I ADORE the color scheme of the navy/beetroot. That may seem silly to some, but I find the color combos and design of MOST running shoes totally hideous. I love having a shoe that pops but doesn't draw unnecessary attention and that I can actually wear with jeans if I wanted to. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the colors of this shoe. In terms of comfort, they are super soft and cushy for sure, but strangely the Ghost 12's took breaking in while the Launch 4's felt perfect right out of the box. The Ghost's chaffed and blistered my right heel for about 2 weeks before they were fully broken in. Now that they are, I love them, but I very nearly sent them back in that first week. I probably kept them because I loved the color so much haha. I think sometimes, too much cushion in a running shoe actually causes more problems than it solves (read Born to Run if you don't believe me). The Ghost 12's may suffer from this issue a little bit. Now that they're fully broken in, I love them, but it definitely was a bummer and not what I was used to from Brooks to have any hot spots at all. I do my walking, running and weight training in them and I find that they are good for all of the above. The quality is definitely there, true to the Brooks brand, and did I mention I love the color? :) Honestly, I think I would still recommend the Launch line of shoe if you're new to Brooks and want a winner straight out of the box, but the Ghost 12's have grown on me. And yes, I paid full price for them! Oh and I wear a true size 8.5 in womens shoes and these 8.5's fit perfectly. I sincerely hope this review has been helpful! Feel free to ask any questions.

Continued Reliability
I waited a couple months after purchase to make sure I couldform an opinion. I've been buying ghosts for years (since i started exercising regularly about a decade ago with my first pair being i think the model 5 or 6). I go through a pair about every 3 years as i do a mix of treadmill, outdoor and indoor lifting workouts 5 days a week in these. I'm always concerned the new models will change fit or performance, but these continue to provide solid wear, comfort and fit for me. I've tried other brands that just don't work for my flat feet. These continue to eliminate the knee and back issues i've experienced using other brands. They are comfortable and work for varied workouts. I can see how some are complaining about them not venting as well as previous models, but it's winter and not as much of an issue right now, but i do notice my feet are warmer and socks definitely wetter after a workout. We'll see if they last as long as previous models, but so far i see no indication they won't.

Perfect first pair of running shoes, probably.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I've never owned running shoes before these, but I love them. I took up running during the Coronavirus lockdown (with a mask, be safe y'all), and they seem like everything that I, as a non-runner, hoped that good running shoes would be: 1. They're shockingly light, to the point that for a half-second I was worried I'd been sent an empty box. Apart from the cushioning, it feels like I'm not wearing shoes at all, weight-wise. 2. Speaking of cushioning, it is excellent. I like that it doesn't feel spongy or overly soft; I was hoping for protection from jarring impacts, not feeling like I was running on a waterbed, and I can definitely still feel the road/trail through the soles, which is a plus for me personally. 3. The lining is maybe my favorite part. the designers/manufacturers did a great job of avoiding any friction on seams and so forth inside the shoe, so I haven't developed any blisters or sore skin spots, which I was concerned about. 4. They're also just nice-looking shoes that don't scream LOOK AT ME IM A RUNNER R U? I wish I'd opted for the plaid-patterned ones, but the grey/black ones don't look out of place with normal, casual clothes. All in all, with no frame of reference whatsoever, these seem like fantastic running shoes.

Review From Two Former Pro Sales Shoe Sellers
Do you want to know about Brooks, why they are superior, how to find a perfect fit, and save money? Here is the info from two insiders: My husband and I both used to sell high end athletic apparel and shoes, so we are quite familiar with the confusing amount of options out there. Virtually everyone has a clever gimmick or marketing campaign that sells an idea more than the shoe, but not really Brooks. They don't need to sell their shoes because they are the best. They do quite well on reputation and word of mouth alone because of their excellence year after year. If you ask virtually any Podiatrist or Orthopedic Surgeon, they will all tell you that if you have any problems with your back, hips, knees, or feet, you should invest in Brooks. When our feet are unhappy, the pain tends to travel up. They ARE an investment compared to most competitors; however, you are investing in your health and they are excellent for athletic performance where it matters too. I can't begin to tell you how many we have owned in our home. While most athletic shoes breakdown (Salespeople call it breaking in) rather rapidly and you begin to feel that "comfort" level we are taught shoes should have, you are loosing the form and function of the shoe. It is becoming worthless and can cause issues later that cost thousands of dollars in medical expenses, lost wages, and it is just plain depressing. Painful blisters are the least of your worries at this point when faced with surgical options because you wore the wrong shoes. Our feet take us everywhere. We should give them the best! Oh, and those memory foam shoes you like, I am sad to say are bad for your feet. If we had a quarter for every time someone said, "BUT they have memory foam." It breaks down too. Brooks is right in the middle. They don't sacrifice what you want -or- need. Plus, chances are, they even added some items in that aid in comfort as well which will ultimately remove stress and aid in comfort. While Brooks boasts many styles and colors, the Ghost has consistently been my favorites throughout the years. They have a shoe that is sure to meet anyone's needs. I like that most of their styles are unisex because it is more efficient with athletic shoes, but then they will add in a "girly" color to the mix for the divas. They come in leather, canvas, and a combination of uppers. I haven't ever had any issues with mine discoloring, but I thoroughly waterproof them twice prior to wear and after each cleaning. I do not recommend putting them in the washing machine. They spot clean well and you can use a denture brush to get tough spots in the sink or use a Magic Eraser on tough spots as well. Whether you have severe orthopedic issues, arthritis, gout, diabetes, bone spurs, plantar fasciitis, corns, claw toe, mallet toe, hammer toe, metatarsalgia (stone bruise), neuroma, neuropathy, sesamoiditis, calluses, or are a competitive athlete looking to improve your game, we have sold all of you Brooks for this very reason. They are phenomenal. I won'r wear anything else and neither will my husband unless it is semi-formal attire. ** If you enjoyed my extremely long and in depth review, please click "Helpful" to motivate me to write more! ** If you want to save some money when you buy Brooks, they usually role out a new "version" of the same model annually, so prices drop on the older ones significantly. You can also save on the less popular colors. Depending upon wear and athletic activities, our typical buyer would wear a pair for three months to three years. While the uppers are still in pristine condition three years later, these shoes go by the mile. Thus, the more mileage you put on them, the faster they will need to be replaced. If you are having difficulty finding a perfect fit, hop into your local retailer, try some on, take a photo of the info of the box, and come back here. You can save a lot of money. If you add the prior years' models to a Wish List or setup alerts, it will even alert you when there is a price drop. Every penny counts! Happy shoe shopping!!! *** If you liked my review, please hit "Helpful" to motivate me to write more. ***
