Would You Know Yet More?: The Rûna Interviews with Edred Thorsson

I would know yet more.
If readers were not already brimming with respect for Edred Thorsson and his epic store of knowledge and understanding, they certainly will be after absorbing so much said in such a compact, beautifully designed compendium of interviews bookended in brief essays and finished with an insightful appendix – yet it’s less about him and more about his sharing of information that will serve us well for years to come as he demonstrates responsible action in arming those near him in spirit with the spear and shield of understanding. This reader's favorite chapter, "Tradition and Modernity," gives sound suggestions:"I believe it is a fundamental precept of traditionalism that as many of our actions as possible have to be conscious ones. If we act with awareness, it is more likely that our material endeavours will support tradition rather than destroy it.""The final goal should be a re-establishment of the balance between the specific individual (understood as a unique exponent of a long biological and cultural heritage) and the collective (the clan, tribe, or nation). At present the imbalance between them is the source of our cultural and individual maladies."Further in the book:“My best advice is for any and all to get in a ship with people you trust, row with all your heart, and stay in the damn boat, and we will all again reach the western shore.”Much gratitude for this new imprint of Arcana Europa Media and for all efforts to provide a platform for the voices of the highest value for the many Good Indo-European causes.--C. View from a High Hill
I have only read 35 of Dr. Flowers's books, so I cannot speak from a completist point of view. This volume does two essential things. Firstly, it provides a clear (and succinct) analysis of the worldview of Dr. Flowers that informs not only his writing (from his scholarly dissertation to his broadly popular works), his esoteric activities, his teaching methods and aims, and his life mission. Secondly it provides an explanation of what it means to be your own human in terms of social activity, thinking, and understanding the true (and flexible) nature of Tradition. Both the devoted friends and intellectual enemies of Dr. Flowers will find deep thought here, presented with humor, insight and a thorough understanding of the etymology of this man's ideas. An excellent Yule gift for the best thinker in your life.Don Webb_How to be a Modern Magus_
