Q: Im trying to use this on a car audio system, will this filter out the higher frequencies like vocals? Im getting the same sound from sub and speakers.

No it's just a gain control meaning you just control the volume of the bass up or down

Plugs in inline on rca cable. Yes works on home or car, any rca line system.

As I said to another person the Rolls SX45 has both a low and high pass function being a two way crossover. Cost is $99.

It is indeed designed to be a low-pass filter. The frequency range is adjustable, allowing you to tune out high and mid range frequencies to blend your sub(s) in as they should be, in a well balanced set-up. It actually works very well. I've tested 150 (clean and real) Watts through two of them with no problems, for my sub system.
