Yes, just change out the batteries. Although the batteries last a really long time.

Is it possible to hide the battery pack inside the shoe or must it be on the outside?

We used for skates, but the pack may b uncomfortable inside the shoe. It’s really not noticeable if u are wearing them in the dark for the glow effect.
