This looks like typical Japanese style Kyusu. Unfortunately I don't know if it contains the seal for the Tokoname region. If I end up purchasing it myself, I will let you know. **Q: how do we know this is lead or cadmium free?** A: Thank you for your inquiry. This teapot is a safe and secure product that has passed the lead and cadmium inspection. **Q: Can I also use this with black tea?** A: You could, but it is meant for Japanese (sencha) green tea. As others stated it is unglazed, which means it will absorb the tea you put in it (seasoning it) but also the minerals in the clay will have an affect on taste and texture of the tea. It may not compliment black tea as well as Sencha **Q: This doesn't come with any instructions or certifications. Is there details on this? How to best care for etc.** A: I’ve never seen any. However I treat it like any clay pot. Gently shake the used tea out. Rinse and put aside to dry.
