Trudy
Believing himself in love with a saloon girl, Seth sets out to propose to her only to find out she's left town with another man, and in the process he invents a fictitious bride to save face and manages to get himself involved in a bet between saloon patrons as to the mystery girl's existence, leaving him with no option but to write for a mail-order bride and try to produce the woman he made up. Trudy is looking for adventure out west and happens to match the physical description of Seth's mystery girl. The playful banter between Seth and Trudy was great, but I felt bad for her, unwittingly getting tied to a man who believed himself in love with another woman, especially after all the effort she put into their relationship. In the end Seth came through, but I'd have liked him to come clean and see the light a little sooner, poor Trudy. Trudy was such a strong, independent woman, and despite her unfamiliar surroundings, she jumped right in with both feet and I thought she really shined as a capable woman, destined to be a pillar of their small community. I'm interested to read further tales in the Montana Sky Series, and I hope that a few more Mail-Order Brides of the West tales for Sweetwater are to follow!

Cute
It's so amazing to read what women - and men - had to go through to even acquire a mate. The author made it interesting for me to read it straight through., The background information from years gone by must have been researched - and it was reflected in the story.Just wondered how the author came by the information, from talks with grandparents? or other senior citizens who lived then or knew of some who did? Story telling in families today is usually invited by one or two interested in family backgrounds, and I was anxious to see how the man or woman in this story passed on such information - via letters. Good research. This senior citizen has learned from her own Grands and Great Grands that only two of the 20 some want to research and know what went on "back then" They tell me they are asking because they feel the current computer is ruining passing on stories of the past. So we have "chats". Reading such books as Mail Order Brides brings it home. .

Lovely Sweet Mail Order Bride Western Romance
This is the first book I've read by Debra Holland. This was one of the better sweet mail order bride western romances I've read. It was historical accurate and the author paid attention to the details. I appreciate that. Actually, I really liked her writing style! Even with it being a clean romance sparks flew between the hero and heroine. That isn't always the case in sweet reads.Trudy becomes a mail order bride to avoid marrying her boring neighbor and goes to Montana to marry a farmer. Seth sends for a mail order bride after he finds out the woman he's cared for has run off with another man. I liked both Trudy and Seth they were likeable but human.I was a little disappointed with the lack of outside plot. There was bad blood between Seth and a rancher in town but it never materialized into anything. Also, I thought the book was a bit long. Some of it could have been cut without harming the story or the romance.

Oldest sister heads West in search of a different life
Trudy helped raise her sisters after her mother's death. They have now married and her father is ready to remarry. She is free to go off and live her own life. Seth, the son of a saloon girl, is ready to settle down and intends on asking the local saloon girl to be his wife. However, she has run off with a traveling salesman. He still wants a wife so he writes tot the agency.Evie is her best friend from the mail order bride agency and they write letters back and forth which link the two novels together. This story happens between the prequel and Wild Montana Sky, so we meet many of the characters that we will come to love in the series: the Reverend Mr. Norton and his wife, the good doctor and his wife, the Carters. This is the second book in a series within two other series (Montana Sky & the McCutcheon Family) by Caroline Fyffe and Debra Holland.

Well-written and entertaining historical fiction!
I found this series after reading the first Montana Sky book. I love novels from this time period and setting, so I was drawn to it immediately. Plus, the story line sounded interesting... a "high society" girl from the city moved out West and marries a man, sight-unseen.I was not disappointed! Author Debra Holland has a way of telling a story that is interesting and easy to read. The amount of detail was perfect for me... not too much, but just enough. The characters were well-developed and I cared about them and wanted to keep reading to see how things would work out. Once I got into this story, I looked forward to reading more chapters every night before I went to bed.Very well-written and entertaining story! I loved it so much I purchased the next two Mail-Order Brides books from Debra Holland before finishing this one. I also purchased "Evie," the companion book, written by another author. I'm reading that one now, and it's cool to see Evie's story, after meeting her first in Trudy's story.Love this series. Love the writing. Love the characters.

Enjoyed this book and it made me want to read ...
Enjoyed this book and it made me want to read others by the same author but some have Debra Holland on them and the same ones also can have Caroline Fyffe on. Makes it difficult to find out in which order the books should be read
