She loves this book. She wanted to pretend to be a witch in training and wrote notes in the margins as if she was in the classes herself. She enjoys pretending with her friends, too.

Great gift has plenty of cool instructions on how to make the potions from the movies and games. And gives information on each one.

We enjoyed adding this too our Harry Potter Sorcerer's Stone literature lesson for school this year. It is fun to see what in the "Wizarding World" a potion would be made of. Great fun.

The index is riddled with typos. Potions are incorrectly listed by page making it a 50/50 chance you actually find what you're looking for. Potions are bunched up, sometimes several to a page instead of them having their own page. There are definitions, many of which are helpful, but a lot of them are incorrect or based off of a misunderstanding from a video game (cast an indiscriminate spell at your ingredient soup to turn it magical?). The recipes for several of the potions are incongruous with canon (pre-established records found on Pottermore and the Harry Potter Wiki). What's more, not all potions have ingredients or instructions listed at all. They only include vague and unhelpful descriptions of their effects. Finally, there are potions that are in the books, movies and games that have not found their way in this book, and there appear to be potions of the authors invention included for flavor. I wouldn't mind this if they at least had recipes included. It's your decision, but my vote would be to NOT buy. I wouldn't have even wanted to spend $5 on this.

You can find better and more information on the web page for free, I knew it was a paper back but the size and printing is wrong compared to the movie books if you want something as a physical copy then do you, but like I said it's disappointing. The instructions are wrong and the ingredients are vage unlike the ones you can find online. Personally I think it's over priced for the product given.

My 7 year old and I are massive Harry Potter fans and son was desperate for a potions book. I must say I was pretty disappointed by this book. Frankly, it's something I could have whipped up in a week whilst doing my A levels. It's okay, minimal to moderate details of main HP mentioned potions but you'd get equal or more details from a wiki page. The layout and formatting is pretty plain too. I think the main issue is at £12.94 it's just overpriced. I'm comparing it to something the Unofficial Harry Potter wizards spell book which I picked up in the Works for £5.99 down to £3 which has similar detail but nicer layout. I did want to try returning it but my son wants it for his collection... Okay but needs to be at least half the price.
