The Scriptures Testify about Me (The Gospel Coalition)

The essence of Christianity is the divinity of Jesus and the oneness of Himself, His Father and the Holy Spirit. Since Jesus' death and resurrection, Satan has orchestrated the attack on Jesus' divinity in a multitude of ways - including the insidious notion that Jesus was, somehow, an afterthought of God and some sort of 'Plan B' to restore His creation. That's absurd! The plan for Jesus was established before the creation itself, The stars in the heavens testify to His lineage, His birth, His birthplace and His death on the cross. Jesus was not an afterthought. Therefore, if Jesus was always part of God's unfolding of His revelation to mankind and redemption of His creation, the OT surely testifies to that fact - through the giving of the Law and the testaments of the prophets. And it does!This small edition is meant to peel some scales from eyes blinded by modern culture, misinterpretations of the OT and mischaracterizations of God. There is much more to be read about this broad subject but this volume will get your mind back on track [if it was momentarily derailed or side-tracked].

That said, it's up to YOU, reader of this review, to form your own opinion as you decide to read it.As there are many who, even though they understand that Christ died for them, do not understand that from Genesis 3 onwards, the Bible points to Jesus. This book will help them to gain a greater insight and may motivate them explore the Old Testament further.

Awesome! It's written for pastors but it's good for us lay people too. It's about seeing Jesus in the Old Testament. The Bible is one continuous story. Jesus is both seen and foretold in the Old Testament and fulfilled in the New Testament.

This is a collection of messages by various authors who presented at a recent Gospel Coalition conference. Some of them I have hear in person or on video and each give a compelling message of Christ as He was spoken of in the Old Testament.

These are some of the best discussions of the links of Old Testament to the New Testament I have ever encountered, and I would recommend it gladly to any serious student of the Bible.

Excellent book for exploring the prophesies pointing to the coming birth of the Messiah as well as actually finding Jesus himself in the Old Testament. We have been using this book in a Bible study group and everyone has enjoyed it immensely.

If, like me, you are looking for a book about Christ in the Old Testament this is not it, in spite of what the title says. It is a series of conference addresses which were supposed to be on that theme but are more about the Gospel in the Old Testament. Some are good on this topic, some less so. The only one to address the issue is by the editor, Don Carson, and he manages to be unduly complicated in expounding the role of Melchizadec as a type of Christ.
