If you are looking for a soft-leaning, medium firmness flat brush set of true artist quality, this set might be a decent choice. These are high quality brushes that hold paint well and lay it down on the canvas smoothly while producing sharp edges/lines. Unfortunately, they are quite soft for acrylics and probably too soft for oils, so their usefulness will be very limited unless you are using watercolors. (I am a Golden heavy body artist acrylics painter, and I find these brushes too soft for general flat brush use.) The brush quality compares favorably to name brands of similar firmness costing nearly twice the price. This set includes 9 flat (true flat, not the shorter and less costly filament brite style flat) brushes ranging in size from 1/8-inch to 3/4-inch. Balance and feel in the hand are very good, the brushes are slightly on the long side of what most would consider a long handle brush, and so I truly enjoy using them. For these reasons, I have trouble believing that the average cost of each brush in this set is about $1.50. After using these brushes a few times, I would say this: unless you are a professional artist, I simply can't see buying any other brand at any price for a brush of similar firmness - i.e., probably a 2 on a 1 (soft) to 5 (firm). Yes, you certainly can buy better brushes than these; but, these are so good that, unless you are a successful professional artist, it seems an extravagance to purchase pricier brushes. Update on March 1, 2021: The build quality seems suspect; the ferrule on my #14 (perhaps 5/8-in.) has become wobbly despite very light use and extremely fine care. Yet, high quality ferrules are touted. This is the sole reason why I downgraded my rating from 5 to 2 stars.

Brushes are a longer than Id like. Makes it a bit clumbsy but they are decent quality for the price. They hold paint well and yield a smooth stroke.

We like to paint. It's common in out house for me to say, "come keep me company while I cook" and all 3 kids come with paint brushes and paper in hand. So we like to keep our tools close at hand. I just used my flat brushes for the first time today and was pleased with the outcome. I am making a sign for my daughters birthday. A vintage wooden sign conveying a favorite phrase. These brushes gave me a crisp clean line, so nice to have just the right tool when I need them. The brushes feel great in my hand and the quality brass ferrules are tight and secure keeping bristles in place and preventing fallout. The brush holds the medium well for a nice flow. In 2015, I bought a set of Filberts from this company and I use them all the time... they are basically my “go to” brushes...Last week I decided to get a set of their Flats.....just got them delivered....looking forward to using them. I looked over my large stash of brushes.....and this brand has held up better than some bushes that I paid over $20+ per brush.

Favorites!!! These brushes are fantastic and they work beautifully with the medium of Acrylic. I'm so pleased with this purchase!I have many brushes and brush sets, and these are amongst my favorites due to the quality of the brushes and the ease of use. There is no struggling or uncertainty when working with this set (sold by 'Biaoni for Magic Touches'.) They are well made, feel really good in your hands, clean up beautifully, are long handled, and quite honestly, these are one of the best sets of flat brushes I have ever purchased. I reach for them often...they are wonderful!

Note that these brushes are quite a bit stiffer then sable. If you are working with oils you will find this makes blending a challenge.
