They're good for that. The paper is good, it's an okay thickness, I use ball point pens so I wasn't gonna have problems. I tested a few tombows and it was fine, small bleed through with pigmented colours.When I bought these, they were £11. That was too expensive for what they are. They're school books with dot grid, which is what I wanted, but it's hard to find. I wouldn't dream of journaling in them, the card covers give no support, it's impossible to have it lay flat, there's always a curve as the spine is rigid.The books are fine, the price (went up to £15 while I waited on delivery) is VERY wrong, the way they're sold as a bullet journal is wrong, I knew that from the pictures alone, and it's not why I bought them, but when I held it I couldn't believe they're marketed as such. You could of course use any notebook for bullet journaling, but a book sold for that intention is usually of a much higher quality that matches the price. It's not just a case of using paper with dots.I enjoy using them for course work, I'd buy both for £7 if there was still a way to get free delivery ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars I didn't think high quality square/graph paper notebooks existed *by D***S on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 May 2018* It always seemed like only line or dot paper could be made in to a high quality standard since I've noticed that graph/squares don't seem very popular with the more mainstream brands (and if they exist, they're unnecessarily expensive for subpar paper quality or very little pages or both). So I was already very happy when I came across Northbooks collection (and they have a good amount of pages too!). And when the books arrived... wow - It went above and beyond my expectations! The paper is so smooth and comfortable to write on. But it was the paper thickness and it's performance that completely won me over - it takes highlighter inks better than one of my notebooks that has 120gsm paper. The highlighters don't bleed at any point and the ghosting is almost non-existent. These books are absolutely worth every penny. I'm very happy I bought the 2-pack. If it's high quality square/graph notebooks you're looking for at a good price - this book is the answer. I didn't think it existed - I'm very grateful it does. What does matter is having enough space to fully write and explore ideas, dreams and stories... and this is something these notebooks have. They are a full A5 and can open flat so you can write right into the margins.
