High quality product and huge money saver if you are mechanically inclined!
Very nice quality fob. I bought this as a replacement for my broken fob on a 2013 VW Jetta (Golf) Sportwagen. I basically transferred the parts (circuit board and key blade) over from my original fob to this replacement fob. IMPORTANT! watch you tube tutorials before trying to disassemble your original fob! ALSO IMPORTANT! Do not try the method of hammering the pin that "locks the 2 halves of the fob" into the body as this WILL damage the board. Rather grind, melt, etc. the plastic from around the pin enough so that you can use a small pair of side cutters to pry/pull the pin out. I used a dremel with a small grinding bit.Now the actual product....This fob is a quality very similar to VW OEM. I was very pleased with the feel, weight and construction of the product.Note that I did end up having to file the original blade to get a proper fit into the hinge as the original blade was a little too snug of a fit. Also my original fob had a panic button, this replacement does not (as the product description clearly states), but there is enough room that the panic button on the board does not interfere with the board fitment into the fob body. After reassembly, I tried all buttons multiple times and starting of the car several times, everything functioned as it should. I am very pleased. I am holding off on inserting the locking pin into the fob body, to make sure I don't have to re-disassemble, but the halves snap together and feel very secure without the pin. If I don't experience any issues, or if the halves want to separate, I may insert the locking pin. If you are handy with tools, this is a HUGE money saver! As stated above I did not use the board or blade that came with this product, so I cannot comment on the cutting / programming of those components, but I will say that my original board APPEARED quite a bit different from that supplied with this fob.

Works as a direct parts swap with 2012 Tiguan fob 5k0 837 202 AE with one minor key adjustment.
The key retainer broke and the key fell out of my OEM fob with part ID 5k0 837 202 AE for my 2012 Tiguan. I ordered this one in the hope that I could simply drift out the roll-pin and swap the key and chip board and battery from the original controller to the new fob body. There's a great video on how to do so on the YouTube channel FasterAutoKeys . Do a search for "2010+ VW Complete Volkswagen Key Fob Shell Replacement".I only had one small problem: the base of the shank on the original key was a little too large for the slot in the new fob, and the alignment for the groove to receive the drift pin was a little off. I was able to adjust the key by carefully working on it with a small high quality triangle file. After the adjustment to the key, everything went back together perfectly and I was able to swap the guts from the original remote into the new fob body without any issues.Note: this fob body is much easier to disassemble and reassemble than the original and does not come with the locking drift pin that goes through the side of the fob body behind the key recess. If you want the new fob to be more rigid pull the pin out of the old fob body and insert it into the new one right below the model number on the left side of the key recess. That will prevent the new fob from accidentally coming apart when having difficulty turning the key or while removing the battery cover. If you're at all mechanically inclined and still have your original fob, you can do this parts swap in about 20 minutes with a handful of common tools.

Good case for transferring your chip!
Looked like the original VW fob case and it was. The key had finally broken off the fob b/c of the issue the Jetta's were having with the key getting stuck in the ignition (was able to get key out by "flipping" the key to get the engine to shut off and finally pull it out). The oval housing had finally broken to where the key no longer stayed in the fob. The original key was a little too thick to go into this fob case but was able to fit after using a dremel on the base. the chip that has the transponder fit perfectly and the key was good as new... now I need to get a new ignition switch/housing so the key will come out with no problems. If you own a VW under 100K miles you can get the dealership to do it for free, I believe there was a recall whether you bought the car from the dealership of from someplace else.

This product cannot be programmed to work for your VW. Per VW Dealer!
I bout this product because there information states that it is a valid key for a VW and can be programmed for your vehicle. This is false! I took the key to my VW dealership (I bought this one because the dealer would charge $180.00 for the key) they took the key and charged me their fee, to program the key to my VW. They came back to me stating the key is not programmable to a VW as they tried to do so and it would not take the program.

Fits like a key in a lock
I got this a couple weeks back , it was super easy to transfer my key . It is good quality and seems perfect, much better than the taped together pos I had before.

2014 VW Passat direct swap.
Great product if you just need a new fob body. You can directly swap your transponder and blade into the new body. You will need to have basic hand tools and a good file or dremel tool. The old blade is a bit too large for the new opening and needs filing to make it fit. Take your time when filing, remember you can always take more off but you can't put any back! Once matched up drive pin back in place and you are set.

It’s ok for the $
Bad imitation. Blade also is to tick compare to OEM , also no logo. Worth the $

Perfect fit for 11-16 VW Jetta key, unlike others offered
Fits OEM circuit board perfectly as if OEM key. Extremely easy to swap over current cut key and circuit board if for example your OEM cut , programmed key breaks at the silver tumbler swivel where cut key attaches. I have used this same key to fix 4 different Jetta keys. Always perfect fit and simple task.
