No, they are thin. Nothing heavy duty about them.

Q: I was served champagne at an event with something similar and are looking for the same ones....Do these have a small indent for thumb while holding?

No they don't. The ones with the thumb indent are made by GoVino and are more expensive. They have a sturdier base than these, but these would work if you have a party where people are going to be holding them most all the time and not setting them down.

Q: What number recycling are these?

The glasses are attractive, molded very well, except for the recycling symbol. But it seems to be type 1 plastic.
