My preferred!
Tulip Sashiko needles are my preferred needle for Japanese embroidery. I use shorter needles when the stitch pattern is curved and longer ones for straight lines. Thin needles are good for lighter weight stitching fabric and the thicker ones for heavier weight fabric or when I’m stitching denim or through two layers of fabric. The Tulip needles are nice and sharp, sliding through the fabric easily. You won’t be disappointed with Tulip Sashiko needles.

Works well.
My mother is a avid sewer who makes all kinds of items, and these worked and did well.

Tulip needles live up to the hype.
I've used all kinds of needles, and for hand quilting through thick materials, this is better than all the other ones I have. Granted, the other ones are nice for their own purposes, but I think these are my new favorite and will be making an appearance for anything but the thinnest/finest fabric. For tiny sewing, I have another Japanese needle but the eyes are so tiny.Other brands for general sewing, embroidery, etc. that I own are: John James, Roxanne and several other Japanese needles just for Sashiko. What I love about these are: they are thick but slide easily through the fabric and the eyes are big enough for 2-3 strands of embroidery floss easily. I bought the 'long' assortment and the needles vary from about 1.5" to 3". They are of varying thicknesses also - the longest ones were pretty thick and I used them to sew through a yarn-knitted quilt with double jersey wool binding and wool batting - think 3/4" sandwich of 4 layers of wool jersey, 1 layer of thin wool batting, 1 think cotton backing and the main knitted wool (#11 needles). This needle saved me - short ones were strong enough but not long enough, long ones tended to bend and/or not be sharp to go through.

Excellent for hand quilting and sewing
I use these for hand sewing and quilting. They're very sharp and sturdy and high quality. The variety of sizes is helpful to have too. I will definitely buy again - though I may not need to since I think they will last awhile!

Wonderful!
These are truly superior needles! On easy-to-needle fabric I can’t tell the difference between these and John James, but when I did some sashiko on denim patches, these really made a world of difference! They slipped through the difficult thick layers without any problem. The previously hellacious corners became a breeze! I especially like the longer needles. The smaller ones don’t have quite as big an eye, and though you might say “well, of course that’s true” it seems that that they aren’t as a ratio, though that may simply be an illusion. No matter. I still give these five stars. Yes, they’re pricey but we’re not talking about the big bucks here. And you get a cute little glass tube with a real cork stopper to keep them in. I do prefer to keep mine in a needle book while in use (and it’s better for them) but that container is just so cute. I use it to carry some other tiny things in my purse!
