The back on this is high enough to support a person’s head all the way to top. Got this for husband after spinal neck surgery, really helps him support his entire spine. He uses it with an armchair. It would be hard to use on a soft couch, it needs the stiff back of an armchair or chair.

Works well for full back and neck support while driving or riding in the car. I usually put a pillow case over it to help keep it clean

I have a low back office chair, and a crazy CEO who will freak out if all the chairs in the office do not match exactly. I was having so much pain in my neck, especially towards the end of the work week. This is firm, perfect height, adjustable, and supports my head. The price was steep for what it is, but I would recommend any day.

One of the best purchases I’ve made! After purchasing/trying/& returning many many many back/neck supports/cushions, I finally found one that enabled me to sit comfortably. Mainly Use on my couch to help w posture (to prevent awful neck shoulder, & back pain) Definitely a game changer for me. Also put on kitchen & dining room chairs if I’m going to be sitting there longer than usual. One note- when I use on couch I do need to put a small pillow behind my neck. It comes with a removable Velcro pillow for lumbar support which I need but another one (more cylinder shaped) would be a perfect addition ) Definitely try if nothing else was effective for you!

It is lightweight but very sturdy and the memory foam is soft enough to protect my aching back and shoulder blades. Best thing for me is that it is as high as my head, allowing my shoulders and damaged neck to have full support when I have to sit in a short back, armless regular chair. It was wonderful at a meeting last night, and I tested it in my church sanctuary! Perfect support for full back, neck, and head! Very well made, easily portable, and arrived in one day. Highly recommend!

I'm not one to regularly leave product reviews - mainly because most of what I've purchased on Amazon are books, and I really think that's up to each reader. But I AM going to leave feedback on this BACKREST. Background: I have a "bad back" (congenital defect where there is very little room up the center of the vertebrae for the spinal cord. I had a slipped disc at L4-L5 about 20 years ago (chiro), the onset of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome throughout my IT career (chiro), a whiplash at C4-C5 in a head on collision (chiro), a complete "blowout" of my L4-L5 that had me on the floor screaming for 911 which involved morphine and carrying me on a board to the ambulance for an emergency fusion of my L4-L5 (neurosurgeon, titanium plate), and NOW, my C4-C5 (never healed properly), after trying EVERYTHING with my great chiropractor, had an MRI and the vertebrae are damaging my spinal cord, causing my entire right arm to go numb if I hold it above waist level for any length of time. So I will have my SECOND back surgery December 21st, 2010 (ho ho ho...). SOOOO... I have been around the block with back/neck pain. I have tried too many chairs to mention. NONE ever were "right." My last chair (executive leather) was HORRID once I sat in front of my Mac with it, and went to Salvation Army. My "new" chair is "okay," but I just didn't have the support I needed to sit in it for long hours in front of the computer and it caused middle back pain (which is ACTUALLY what got me seeing my chiro again - it was after a period of adjustments that the C4-C5 problem became apparent). I bought a "chiro Backrest" (The Ultimate? - a Canadian company) from his office, but that was useless - no support at all. I was reluctant to give this Backrest a try - but I'm not about to sell my Mac Pro and just use my laptop because of my back. So I gave this a try. THIS is the "Ultimate" (if there ever was one)! It COMPLETELY supports you. I use it without the lumbar pad, but I can see how someone who hasn't been operated on there may need that support. It's Velcro, so you can put it EXACTLY where you need it. The Backrest is awesome and fits like a glove. I have a tendency (the neck) to lean a bit forward, so I added what is actually a "lumbar roll" support around the top of this Backrest for my neck and it works like a charm. I have only positive things to say about this product. If I were you, I would buy THIS ONE, and have a happy back. I may get one for my car. The company is 5 STAR all the way; ships fast, great product at a MUCH LOWER price than most "ergo gear," and I've talked with them on the phone (number is in their Amazon profile) and they are SO customer-oriented! So, there's my "two cents," from someone who NEEDED this Backrest, and I am hoping this review will be able to help others like me (even if you have a GOOD back - if you want comfort and TAKE CARE of your back - buy this).

Dont be fooled by these great reviews, this is hard and understandable. It has very little cushion. You can feel the hard plastic when you hold it or squeeze it. Again Very uncomfortable. High price trash. As for the adjustable lower lumber it's a very small piece of Velcro material that is holding this in place. Honestly not worth your time or money.

The ObusForme support sounded exactly like what I needed. It's very well made. Lightweight and easy to transport. It's what I imagined would help my back and I was excited when I found it. Unfortunately, my back hurt more after using it. I took breaks between usage, just to be sure. But every time I used it, my back hurt more. I have cervical spondylosis and need some sort of support behind my neck and head when I sit on the couch. I also have middle back trouble from a fall. Unfortunately, this was not the right fit for me. Be sure and try it out well during your first 30 days so you can return it if you need to.

The product itself appears to be okay, it's a light, relatively thick piece of foam that supports your back and potentially your neck. It's pretty much what you should expect. Amazon did a poor job, however, delivering me a product where the retail box had been ripped apart and taped back together again, and no effort was made to hide what the product was even though I selected the option during checkout (simply a shipping label slapped on the poorly reconstructed box). I purchased the item for someone else and will have to either hand them a box that looks like somebody messed with the item, or an item without a box that looks like I grabbed it from someone else's chair. Unfortunately, I need the product right away, so I am not in a position to return it and look elsewhere.

Not as sturdy as it looks, the top portion will flex and bend if you lean back defeating the purpose of the support.
