Well worth the price. - This is an absolutely amazing LEGO set. While assembling it, I was totally astonished at the size and extraordinary detail. The gate opens with ease, and the laboratory and helipad make it look even larger. The huge amount of features is stunning. Not to mention, the purchase of this building kit is one of the only two ways to obtain a mini figure of Doctor Henry Wu (played by B.D. Wong in the movie) and the extremely neat little crystal that represents a chunk of amber, with a mosquito printed on the side. Also, one of the interesting features I noticed is that on Dr. Wu's DNA sequencing monitor in the lab, Mr. DNA is represented. Also, the Indominus Rex dinosaur is the only Jurassic World LEGO dinosaur to have double jointed arms. They can pivot at the shoulder, and the wrist can turn a full 180 degrees. Unfortunately the set has a rather small amount of mini figures, and the absence of Owen Grady makes it a little less accurate to the movie. Also, the gyro sphere's seat occasionally becomes caught on the plastic casing, though I'm sure it will soon wear down and roll with ease. And finally, the fence that splits open never appeared in the movie, as the Indominus escaped through the gate. My son was able to follow the directions very easily, unlike some other Lego sets he has had. He didn't require any assistance. It did take him 2 days to put it together but he was so proud he did it by himself. This is his third big Lego set and the first one that he did by himself. He loves dinosaurs so this was naturally a hit. If one is an adult collector, it is easily worth the investment because the stinginess of LEGO with putting dinosaurs in their JW sets will make the value hold up in the long run (licensed LEGO sets for wildly popular films and shows really hold their value if kept in good condition). I have no doubt this line will be popular due to the box office record the movie just set. If you are buying it for a child, I would suggest saving money by waiting until Christmas season when we'll probably see it drop in price by $30 or so OR I would suggest buying the Wal-Mart exclusive set, which is essentially a miniature version of this set that comes with two raptors while also buying the vet truck set that comes with Owen, Claire and the other two raptors. You would get two sets instead of one and would have all four raptors as well as the main character. If you ONLY buy this set, all you get is one of the main kids, two nameless characters, and the geneticist that doesn't have a huge role in the movie. The minifig selection, as I pointed out in my review, is by the far the biggest drawback. You get absolutely hosed in that regard for the money. However, this is the only way to get the i-rex, which is the straight up main villain in the movie. **Q: How is paying $500 justified? I understand supply and demand, but I have seen sets larger and 20 years older that are selling for a fraction of that.** A: Older sets dont mean more popular, more recent sets tend to be better and have better value, this set was easily the most desirable of the JW sets because it has the indominus and good minifigs selection and great set. My son has just gotten into Legos, and he love love loves dinosaurs. We purchased him one of the smaller Jurassic World lego sets for his birthday, and then he had to collect them all. The Indominous Rex that comes with this set is so cool, and my son loves making him break out of the cage. The entire enclosure can come apart and has great moving parts to it.
