I purchased this skimmer because I was getting tired of replacing the wood air blocks used with the air pump driven nano skimmers like the bio cube protein skimmers. I started off with the highest pump setting but it spit out lot of micro bubbles the same is said for medium flow. So I dialed it all the way and gave it the 10 day break in time and it produced skimmate no problem. The noise level is not that bad but it is noticeable and after a while you block it out. What I dont like is that it was designed mainly for rimless tanks. How ever I was able to get mine to fit below the rim of the aquarium. I am using this in a JBJ 29 gallon nano aquarium (modified). I give it a 5 star overall because it is working the way I want. I would have loved to have room to put it in the back chamber of the aquarium but there is no space. Seeing it in the tank is unfortunate but I sacrificed aesthetics for the need to filter my aquarium. I would buy this again I needed in the future.

Update: Customer service is ok. They sent new magnets and parts for the pump to keep it quiet, but this thing really is more hassle than beneficial. The height adjustment is the problem. Adjusting it millimeters causes it to go from dry skimmate to overflowing with water. I'll be contacting them to return and provide an update on how willing they are to work with me on the return. I'll keep this review updated, but 5 days in and I'm not loving this. Although the air drive is silent, the pump itself is incredibly loud. I'm assuming this is because the magnet isn't very strong, so there's a lot of vibration. When I physically hold the unit again the tank with a lot of pressure, it's completely silent. Because the magnet is weak, the unit keeps slipping down or to the side. Many people say their unit broke in a day or two -- I'm seeing no progress so far. I was also disappointed with how little instructions there are. Others might be satisfied with the simplicity. I've contacted Eshopps to see if they can offer solutions, so I will update on their response. I'm hoping for a positive customer service experience. At this point, the only thing I'm loving is the size. More updates coming...

Great little skimmer for a Nano. After a few days it was producing dry skim. Not the quietest skimmer but not too noisy either. For the price i am very satisfied. My only complaint would be the magnet. Not the greatest design because the pump is in the way so you cannot lower the level without lowering the entire unit thus preventing from skimming the surface

Great skimmer for a 10 gallon Wouldn’t use it much for a 30 gallon or a 35 It did fit in my innovative marine nuvo 10

Great little guy! As is normal with nano skimmer the skimmed material is never too dark but it works great and create heavy foam when I need it to! Also the magnet to hold it in place works great and is super strong but you have to put it so the brand name goes in ( the label doesn’t show from the outside). Lots of reviews said the magnet is really weak and I agreed until today by accident I flipped it around and it’s amazing and very strong! Oops haha

I had the original version of this skimmer in my 12g JBJ nano-reef for several years and it worked fine. But my ATO failed when I was out of town for the weekend and the skimmer pump ran dry, damaging the needle-wheel impeller. I tried to reach Eshopps to get a new impeller, but they never responded. I tried a couple of other "nano" skimmers (like the Aquamaxx) but nothing else fits in chamber 1 of the JBJ tank. So I ordered this new Eshopps skimmer – and it doesn't fit. They changed the design to add a "height adjustment screw" and now it no longer fits in the chamber. So in the end I just took the new pump (same as the old pump, only white) and attached it to the old skimmer body. So now I have one functional skimmer made out of parts of two skimmers. I'm not using most of this new skimmer – just the pump. Valuable lesson learned: Don't buy Eshopps if you expect any customer service.

Like me, if you have a 4" chamber in an AIO tank (i.e. NUVO 25g lagoon, etc), this newer version of the skimmer is larger than the description details (nearly 4.5"). With the magnet mount removed, it's exactly 4" but the skimmer without the magnet is then a pain in the arse since the cup would be the only thing keeping the skimmer from dropping into the chamber. I can't convince myself to remove the entire skimmer to empty the cup every couple of days. Only other option is to put the pump beneath the skimmer and run a line to the skimmer inlet but nope, this pump doesn't have enough head pressure. Need to upgrade that but will anything fit? The frustration. Two stars because while testing in the display, it skimmed really well right away. Oh and the magnet is now strong.

Item I received is the old model. The Nano skimmer pictured is the newer model. It works fine, just be aware you won’t receive what is displayed.

Great little skimmer that fits in the second chamber of my IM Nuvo 20. Pulls dry or wet depending on how deep I move it.

I have received my new skimmer today, tried it but the pump isn’t working and there is a smell of electricity coming from the pump, the pump was defective and doesn’t work. Sorry I had to write such a review to a company (Eshopps) that have great products
