I have an average sized head and they fit well; the band on either side comes down snugly (but not too tight) to just about the middle of my ears. The fit is much better than having a band that goes all around the back of my head. It's true that the fabric is not glued down across the whole band but I like that it is only anchored at the middle (where the knot is placed), and at the ends. This is what helps the band itself be flexible enough without pulling on the fabric. Even so, the fabric is anchored well and does not slip off. These bands are also very pretty, both in the patterns and the plain. I get compliments on them a lot. The only thing I suggest is that the knot could be a bit offset from the middle, since I part my hair on the side, but the knot is just large enough to add interest and not so large that it gets in the way.
