DeAgostini1/1250 Warship Scharnhorst 1939 + Type VII 1938 Submarine/Battle Cruiser / WS02

The inclusion of a U-boat is a masterstroke.
Both vessels are to the same scale. That such a tiny sliver of metal could have dealt with Scharnhorst's immense bulk emphasises the Kriegsmarine's war-losing blunder. The raw materials and productive capacity squandered on Scharnhorst might have built 15? 20? submarines. The same goes for her sistership Gneisenau, and even more so for Bismarck and Tirpitz. The resultant surge in U-boat numbers by 1940/41 would have saturated the UK's convoy system and probably starved her into surrender before WW2 engulfed America. Pearl Harbour and the UK's resiliency combined to ensure Allied victory.I am now able to make this point more effectively with my grandchildren. Over to you!
