Hatley Kids' Rain Pants

I just got these for my 2.5 yo 2 weeks ago for forest days/outdoor activities at daycare. I wanted rain pants that were not a bib style for easy quick on/off since he is potty trained. After 1 wash per the washing instructions and air dry, the weatherproof strip in the inside of the pants that go over the seam is peeling off. So no i'm not sure how waterproof these will be from now on. For the $29 retail price I feel really really disappointed in the quality of these pants. We have a pair of rain bibs I got for $8 that have withstand much better. Will not be buying another Hatley brand item.

My daughter needed rain pants for outdoor preschool. She is pretty average sized, 3 foot 6, 36lbs and they are a bit large in the waist, she had only wore them with snug fitting legging type pants. They would probably fit perfectly over thicker pants or jeans. So the fit is good especially since we are just going into fall (she will be wearing heavier clothes in a month) they have a draw string waist and I can pull the waist to fit,but I keep it loose because no 4 year old wants the hassle,she wants to just pull on the pants and go and with boots they stay up just fine.The legs are a few inches long, but the elastic at the ankle makes that not a issue, the pants get tucked into her boots. I think these pants will fit next year also :) I like the feel of the material, flexible but can stand up to walking, climbing in the forest, they don't snag as easily as nylon pants.She loves that they are yellow, her favorite color and they look good with her yellow firefighter raincoat and boots

I bought two of these, 2T and 4T. They work great for keeping my kids dry and they are stylish. However, after the second wash the sealed seam on the inside of the 4T pant started to come loose, not just in one spot but all around. I wonder if there was some defect in the sealant material on the 4T pant. The 2T pant does not have the same problem and is great. I will be contacting the company.

Does your toddler have some strange magnetism for every puddle you encounter on your walk? Does your toddler's enthusiasm and lack of coordination ever conspire with gravity for an epic slip right on the edge of a giant mud pit? Has your toddler ever stopped in the middle of a walk to remove their pants because they're so water-logged that they won't stay up any longer? (Is that last one just my problem?). Every parent should be given a pair of these pants when their kid turns two. ;) We were able to play outdoors all spring, in all kinds of weather, thanks to these pants. They go on and off so easily over whatever the child is already wearing, and protect their clothes from water/mud. The big pocket is great for collecting found treasures or bringing along a favorite toy. My daughter was thrilled by the pocket. They're a sturdy waterproof material that I don't think will break down, tear or crack easily. The nice tight ankles make it nearly impossible for water to get in when pulled down over rain boots. SO glad we purchased these pants–we played outside this spring more than we would have without them, and saved MANY pairs of good pants from mud-stains! I bought the 4T size for my tall three year old and there's plenty of room for her to grow into them so I think they'll last us a full year at least.

My son is on the small side of 5 so I wasn't surprised that these would be somewhat large for him. We're okay with it because when we took these to the beach he had sweats on underneath. The positive was that the bottom was cinched so that his boots could be covered and the waist has a drawstring that helps us tighten it for him. I was disappointed that within the first 20 minutes of my son wearing them on the beach and playing in the sand, he wore a hole into the knees. Maybe my son is too hard on the knees, but I thought they would hold up a little better. In the future, I'll have to shop around for pants that are of a more durable, waterproof material.

These fit my daughter well - they are baggy but she is tall and skinny. I was worried it wouldn't fit in the waist and they did. The only thing that is a little challenging is how strong the elastic is at the bottom of the pants. I realize this is needed to keep the water out. My daughter just has to put these on at school by herself over the rainboots and sometimes she doesn't put it over the boot because of difficulty and she gets totally soaked. :/ I realized this and did a demonstration with her (it was challenging for me to do!!) and told her to ask for help if she needed it. When put over the boots, they keep her dry. I feel like rainboots should be taken in to account with the design and make a button or some sort of tightener to make it easier. Overall I would recommend.

These pants are perfect for my 6 year old son. I ordered the bright yellow so I can spot him easily in the woods during his wilderness school classes, or when we are just out on an early morning hike. He's able to sit in wet grass without getting his pants or other layers wet. I love how durable these pants are as well...my son has rolled down hills, trudged across streams, slid down a rock pile....the pants show no wear at all! I usually just hose them off after he wears them and they're good as new. So happy we found a dependable, comfortable splash pant!

I bought these 2 pairs for my daughters. My 4 year old (pink pants) is 100cm tall and I bought size 3 for her. And my 3 year old (blue pants) is 90 cm tall and I bought a size 2. And they fit perfectly. So I would say they come in large.The fabric is superb and it washes easily. However, the pink gets dirty very easily so I would choose a different colour or pattern.They are 100% waterproof. I would definitely buy again.

We've brought these before and they are so good we had to get another pair. Waterproof easy on and off perfect for the children. Excellent quality

My son was out of nappies much earlier than expected (his choice, not mine!) and I found all-in-one waterproofs were suddenly a much less practical choice. I was pleased to find these trousers which are much easier to deal with when nature calls. They seem pretty waterproof and they keep the wind out, too, so they're cosy. They might even be too hot for summer but we shall see!

I had ordered the hot pink and got the light pink - but the seller did try to work out a compromise with me and they told me that when my 6 yr old daughter got them full of mud they would wash clean - and they did! They wash very well, she likes the pocket and doesn't complain when it's time to put them on.

The first time my daughter wore these to the park for about 1.5hrs, they ripped. I had expected a lot better quality!
