Easy to setup and start getting readings
Easy to setup and start getting readings. Works great for the small solar panel I have to recharge my 12V battery used to power my Amateur Radio. Running it from a Nano I was able to fit the entire solar charging monitor system into a case the size of a large box of matches.

Why pay more than double for a generic part?
This is just a generic INA169 Analog Current Sensor Module. I replaced one of these (that failed) with another generic version that has the exact same components and is sold for less than half the price (delivered) on Amazon. In this case, I see no advantage buying Ada's Fruit.

Relatively accurate current monitor
The module was functional and relatively accurate. The measurement error (vs. my multimeter) was measured across a range of currents (see table). The tendency is to under-estimate the current. The smallest current value that can be distinguished from zero ranged 15-30mA. The smallest current that is within 10% of MM-reported value was 45-90mA. My results are consistent w/ another amazon reviewer statement that module is "great for low current work". MM current 5V error 9V error 12V error ------------------------------------------------------- 300-400 mA.....NA...............-3%.............-3 to -5% 200-300 mA.....NA...............-5%.............-3 to -6% 100-200 mA..+3 to +12%..-8%..............-7 to -10% 50-100 mA....-1 to +3%.....-8 to -15%..-5 to -10% ------------------------------------------------------- Boring details you should skip: The module was tested in high-side configuration, using arduino's 5v logic-level, 10-bit ADC. Multiple voltage inputs (5, 9 and 12 v) were used and the module was tested w/ a range of currents. The voltage source was isolated from the INA169 driver supply (5v); however, a common-ground connection was used. The INA169 value used for error calc was the mid-point of a range (typically 10mA wide, a measure of the reading instability from the ADC).
