Good solid writing instrument
This is a good solid pen that reduces bulk and the number of items I have to keep track of. The only reason it did not get 5 stars is the ink, sometimes it is slow to flow and I have to find a piece of scratch paper to scribble on to start it going again. It fits my hand well, functions well mechanically, looks business like and gives a good appearance at meetings and while working, unlike some of the cheap plastic ones.I do a lot of legal briefs that are color coded. This allows me to work while travelling or at a desk without having to keep track of several different color pens. This is a Feb 2015 update, and I am now giving the pen 5 stars. I fixed the ink problem by switching to Fischer Bullet Pen refills. Sadly they only come in Black, Blue, and Red, but for my work the Green that comes from the mfgr. is good enough. At least for me this is now the perfect writing instrument. Having lasted this long it is obviously stout, especially given the amount of use it gets! pretty good; i don't like the noise or the loose feeling
It feels good in the hand. Looks like it should. I really like the Lamy 2k desgin, despite having zero L2K pens that are unqualified good LOL. I have the fountain pen in EF and it writes a M line. This pen checks a lot of boxes for me but it just doesn't feel as good as I need it to. It's not transparent. I.e. it doesn't become part of my hand. Or it hasn't yet.Pro:four colors. good for literature notes. the Zebra gel D1 refills are pretty nice. Also tried Uni Jetstream in this, which was nice but there is no green. I don't like non-hybrid ballpoint refillsI like the form. So tidy. Feels like a workhorse pen that can travel. Doesn't really feel out of place anywhere.Small enough. I can sit in my pocket with a pocket notebook or sit on my desk.Con:the gravity mech is loose by definition. it rattles if I pick up the pen and slap it back down on the page with too much force.THIS IS THE BIG ONE FOR ME: the refill doesn't sit as tight in hole as other pens. At first I thought it was the size of the hole but it's more than that. It just doesn't feel like the refill is one continuous rigid assembly with the body.On cheap multipens, e.g. Pilot hi-tec-c Coleto 1000 (my favorite), the refill locks in TIGHT. There is no play - it's as rigid as writing with a wooden pencil. The Rotring 600 3-in-1 is about halfway between that and this, the Lamy 2000 MultipenThe L2K just feels a little wobbly. Not really noticeably. It's more like a creeping sensation that accumulates over a session. And also I notice that my handwriting is less controlled/consistent when I use this pen.Overall I still like the pen. That design really is charming. It's the most beautiful multipen I have - by a mile. And I still like at least the idea of the mechanism.

Beautiful pen
I love the texture of holding it in your hand. The mechanism to change colors is ingenious. The blue ink is vibrant. It skips at first, but once you start writing its smooth.

Lamy Four Color Pen - Five Stars!
I’m an adjunct instructor at a local university and have been using this four color pen since I. Ought it new here in February 2019. I use it everyday. I typically teach three classes per spring and fall semesters, and one class in the summer semester. Sometimes they are three different courses and sometimes two are the same. I had been using four Lamy Safari fountain pens with different color inks, one for each class I’m teaching when writing notes in my planner. I bought this particular pen so I could do the same with just one pen. For example, blue for my online class, green for the hybrid class, and red for the class that is fully classroom. I use the black color for non-school notes or personal to do’s. Bought refills for all four colors but have yet to replace any of the originals that came with the pen. Writes extremely smooth. Good heft to it. Just bought a second one for my wife. After two years of daily use I cannot find one thing that I don’t like about this pen. Everyone has different tastes, this one suits me just fine. Highly recommended.

Great writing instrument
First intuitive multi pen I ever had. Ink flows well, very comfortable in my hand. Love writing with it. Definitely is exactly what I needed. Shipping was faster than anticipated from Japan. The tracking was messed up, but that is minor based on its origin. Tracking showed it was in CA and being delivered in CA, except I'm in VA... The item got to where it was supposed to be. All good! Worth it for sure!

easily the best multicolor pen
The one i bought 2 years ago and use heavily, every day. It finally broke. Thinking there must be other multi-color pens, possibly better and cheaper. I researched, ordered and tried several, including rare and hard to find. None were nearly as good. I bought another Lamy 2000 and am loving it.

Have been using for over 30 years!
My wife bought this for me when I was a struggling PhD student. She had heard that having a four color pen can help with note taking clarity. I have loved this pen ever since. As I moved from taking classes to teaching them, having four colors has been an incredible help.Sure the pen is not without its flaws, but find another four color pen at a cheaper price that doesn't look like it came out of a vending machine. This is a great pen for a fair price.I bought this one because I dropped my other one and (after thirty years) it broke. I have sent this one back either two or three times for repair and I decided it was time for a new one. I don't want to be without this pen. It has been very helpful for me. Your mileage may vary.
