For generations my family has been collecting Hudson Bay blankets, and while I knew some of the background I was surprised to find a book dedicated to the entire history of “The Blanket.”I am so glad I bought a copy - it’s a beautifully written book with fantastic photos and historical tidbits. It is neat to see how the blanket evolved over the decades and it’s importance. I purchased the book for me, but I have just ordered three more to give to my parents and brothers as gifts! It’s a wonderful present to give or to keep for yourself.

This little book offers a concise history of the Hudson Bay Blanket, its importance in developing trade with native tribes inthe far-flung North American interior, and its enduring legends as an heirloom quality item. Fascinating from page 1.

Harold Tichenor's classic reference book presents the history of Hudson's Bay Point Blankets. I believe it is the ultimate book on the topic. However, a person who is looking to learn the age of a particular blanket by identifying the label will only find an approximation. The label has evolved over the decades and an individual blanket's precise age won't be learned this way. This book has only two pages and four photos showing labels. But it is still a fascinating read.

I never dreamed I would read a book about a blanket, I checked it out of the library to see what it was about and had to have one for myself. I found it very interesting. So now I have it in a canoe theme bedroom, along with a Point Blanket, canoe paintings, Hudson's Bay Boots,The Beaver Magazines and other related items.

This book is wonderful I bought two blankets after reading it -- and I bought vintage ones because the new ones are made differently. The new ones are dry clean, only!
