Affordable and effective
I've been using this Pool Mate algaecide for a few years now and it has been the most affordable brand. It kills algae quickly and has helped keep it from re-forming in my 30,000 gallon in-ground pool. I pour it weekly around the rim using the per gallon guide on the bottle, and keep my pool water balanced. Two to four bottles last me from May to September and sometimes I have some left to open the pool the next year. It's a great value considering how expensive pool chemicals are nowadays.

Good product โ dependable quality, and effectiveness
I have used these for years now. The saltwater pool chemicals align very well with its functionality. I will continue to buy the product for maintenance against algae in my poolโฆ Does not seem to affect negatively any of the pool components, including my pool heater.

Good deal. No wasps.
I canโt say how this works on algae because I use it as a โwaspaecideโ to combat the paper wasps in AZ. Itโs the literally half the price of the recommended brand and the exact same formula. Shipping was not good. Before I opened the box I could smell that the bottles leaked. A small amount of liquid lost, no big deal. Definitely work on a better seal.

I use this as a pool professional
I operated a pool service company for 20 years and used this product [chemical formula] for all of those years. Though it is called an algaecide, it is better known as an algaestat [for prevention of the growth of algae], than as a chemical to do a clean up. Overall, this is a very good and safe chemical to use, with the formula on this going back about 80 years. Once you actually have algae, your kill and cleanup needs to be done with something like chlorine or some other oxidizer. Once dead, reestablish a startup dose of this algaecide and it will work to help cover the ups and downs of your sanitizer balances so that you don't have a sudden bloom of algae because your chlorine count got a little low or the pH changed to reduce the sanitizer effectiveness. Be sure to know the volume of your pool and follow the recommended dosing. If you don't do the startup dose, the maintenance doses will be ineffective. This is probably the most widely distributed chemical as an algaecide, with the other one being a copper based one. I won't touch the copper though. It's fine in its initial form and it does work. However, once it becomes unchelated, it can have some unpleasant effects such as turning bleached hair green. Also as a note, this is the same chemical used by Lysol in their sanitizer wipes. With a calculator and your algebra skills, you can use this and some baby wipes to make replacement and highly effective wipes.

Perfect product for the pool
I purchase this algaecide each year for my pool. It does a great job at keeping the algae away in warmer weather. Very easy to use.

Absolutely amazing product!
We were gone for two weeks and came back to a pool that was green and brown. After trying the usual products that didnโt work, we thought we were going to have to drain the pool. My husband was in Home Depot and saw this product and thought he would give it a try. By the next day the pool was crystal clear! We were amazed. It happened again when we were away and as soon as we used it the pool cleared up. I liked the product so much I ordered some for my cousin because her pool was in the same situation. This is a fantastic product for a very inexpensive price.

Made SPA unusable
An ounce will turn your spa into an unusable white foaming bubble bath for days.Unfortunately I didn't try it until after the return period had expired. The chemical traps air in circulating water making clear water totally opaque. Generally a disaster Hopefully it will dissipate in a few weeks. Otherwise the spa will be unusable for the rest of summer unless I drain the spa at a time during the California drought where water restrictions will prevent me from refilling it Don't EVER use this in pools ponds or water falls with active circulation. It may kill algae just fine in standing water ponds.
