Simply the Best
Best knife I've ever owned in over 35 years of owning pocket knives. Period. If you must know more than that, here it is: I was a Gerber knife fan for years, but I realize now that I just didn't know any better. Several years ago, my girlfriend bought me a Kershaw folding knife with a built-in driver with #1 and #2 flat and phillips drill bits. It was cheap, but it was utilitarian and served it's purpose. It was a $10 sale item at W@L-M@rt that she had put in my stocking for Xmas. Anyway, it quickly replaced my Gerber because the thing was razor sharp out of the box and held it's edge much longer than the Gerber I was always having to sharpen. Anyway, the belt clip on the cheap Kershaw was coming loose after a couple of years of regular use (still not bad for $10!) so I started searching for a replacement, a Kershaw of course, and I found this Kershaw 1605CKTST Clash Folding Knife with SpeedSafe (2-Step Serration) on Amazon...I always buy a knife with a partially serrated blade because it makes the knife much more versatile for different cutting needs. This thing has not disappointed. The SpeedSafe open assist is amazing! It opens lightning fast with the push of the very well placed flipper, located on the back spine of the knife. Works MUCH better than the little knob that most "quick opening" knifes have on the blade itself. Like I said, it holds an edge better than (pretty much) any knife I have ever owned, especially for the $30 I paid for it. It is easy to sharpen. I use the Smith's PP1 Pocket Pal Multifunction Sharpener that I bought here on AMazon. It was cheap and gets the job done, and has the taped diamond rod for sharpening the serrations. It has a decent weight to it, and feels like a quality product. The belt clip works great, and has never loosened on me. I carry this knife with me EVERYWHERE that I go (except airports of course) and use the clip on the front left pocket of my jeans, even when riding my motorcycle. I can't imagine life without my Kershaw Clash. I use it every day and it has yet to let me down. If I ever lose it (I HAVE actually lost it once already, but had another on the way using Amazon Prime that SAME day!) I would buy another without hesitation. I cannot recommend this knife enough to those of you in the market for one. BUY IT.

This is an awesome, beautiful, well designed EDC "clip-pocket" knife. Wear it properly & you won't hurt yourself.
Possibly the best pocket knife I have ever owned. Perfect for an EDC.....just be sure you use the clip and don't put it fully down in your pocket. You could end up hurting yourself. No seriously. Read on. The SpeedSafe Assisted Opening mechanism is sweeeeeet. However, I could see this causing accidental openings (& injury) if you put it down in your pocket, so don't do that. This knife is DESIGNED to use the clip to attach to your pocket. This is specifically to prevent accidental opening and injury. So please, just use this one like it is designed to be used and be safe. If you want a knife to insert way down deep in your pocket, get one without a speed-assisted opening mechanism. BC I'm telling you now, this thing is beyond razor sharp. Holds it's edge very well too, and comes with lifetime free sharpening from the Mfg. But you don't want to chance this baby opening without your permission while way down in your pocket, down near....vital areas. Just don't do it. The knife comes with an instruction sheet. PLEASE read it before you toss it. Honestly, don't be that guy (or gal) who thinks he knows everything and ends up slicing something important simply bc you are an idiot. My mother loves a good pocket knife to keep in her car console and one in her purse. I would not buy this for her to keep in for either of those places. I would buy her one without assisted opening. Any knife with assisted opening will be extremely dangerous to have laying deep in a pocket or purse, simply bc they can and at some point, will open. So when you reach in for the knife, you will eventually find an open and very sharp blade. So again, don't do that. don't buy this knife unless you will be smart and carry it wisely & safely. I made a little "pocket" on the inside wall of my car's middle console, just big enough to slip this into and keep it from accidentally opening. Having a good sharp utility knife around is always a good idea. This knife is perfect for my needs and has been used several times a week for one thing or another. And don't knock this product for being designed the way it is. Honestly, you have so many great EDC pocket knife options, each one designed for a different use and purpose. This one is designed to be worn a certain way, and it works very well....as long as you have a few live brain cells and actually use them. So get it, use it CORRECTLY, and love it. This is an awesome, beautiful, well designed EDC clip-pocket knife.

A great knife at a reasonable price
I’m a firefighter/paramedic and I carry a knife everyday. This model has recently become my go to. I have preferred kershaw for years due to the decent quality for a low price. I’m not worried about having to abuse it if I need to. It holds its edge pretty well, and is easy to sharpen. I have also always been a fan of the assisted opening feature. They always open smoothly and consistently into the locked position. And it doesn’t open until you to intend for it to. My favorite feature has become the pocket clip. Having lost several knives due to bent clips, I love the wide clip on this thing. It doesn’t get caught as often, and it would be really difficult to bend it. It also catches your pocket really easily when you put it away. I have also noticed less wear on my pocket as the force is distributed better. You’re also able to move it to better suit your preference. Whether you use a knife everyday or have never carried one, I can’t recommend this model enough. It’s reliable, packed with features without being overly complicated, and it doesn’t break the bank.

My Favorite Knife
Awesome knife. It's lightweight and a good size. It locks and opens well. I've had it for several years and the spring is still going strong. Worth the price, imo. Just sharpen it from time to time and it's good to go.

Great EDC Knife
I've had my Clash for about a week now and have been using it as my EDC knife. Overall, this knife is a great value - I paid around twenty-two bucks for it and I feel like I've gotten my money's worth. It came quite sharp out of the box - it could easily shave arm hair and I had to do very little to it to get a nice razor-sharp edge on it. The spring assist on it is nice and crisp - the blade deploys quickly when the actuator is depressed on the back of the knife. The pocket clip holds firmly, and has a wide profile at the opening to keep a good grip. The clip comes mounted at the top of the handle out of the box, but you can move it to the bottom of the handle. Sorry lefties - the clip only mounts to the right hand side of the handle (right side when looking at the spine of the blade.) When folded up, the knife will squeeze into and clip onto MOLLE webbing, so if you happen to have MOLLE gear and you want to put the knife within easy reach on the outside, it will go there and not come out unless you apply a significant amount of inertia to it. If you or your gear experience the kind of force necessary to throw this thing out of your MOLLE webbing, then you've probably got bigger problems on your hands. If you're just hiking and jumping from rock to rock, for example, it's highly unlikely that the knife is going to come out of that MOLLE webbing unless you pull it out. I struggled between giving this knife four stars and five stars because while there are some things that I think can be improved about it, it's still and excellent knife for the value. The only negative things I have to say about this knife are nit-picky, especially considering its price point. First and foremost, the knife is a little heavy for its size. Granted, it looks durable and both sides of the inner handle are reinforced with metal for the liner lock, but compared to the other knives I own that are of comparable size and function, this one is the heaviest. I'd pay a few extra bucks for this knife if they used lighter but durable materials for the handle, like glass-reinforced nylon. Secondly, the ergonomics for deploying the blade leave something to be desired. The spring assist actuator on the back of the blade requires more force to deploy than some of my other knives, and has a somewhat abrupt edge on it and will tend to dig into your finger when you press down on it. Again, it's a nit-pick and not a major issue. However, compared to similar knives, this one is less ergonomic when it comes to working the spring assist. The spring assist is nice and crisp, so I wouldn't change that aspect of it. However, it would be nice to see a slightly larger actuator for more leverage and a more rounded edge on it. Another option like a thumb stud on the blade would be a nice option to deploy it as well. In summary: The pros: - Great price - Decent steel (8Cr13MoV - similar to AUS8) - Pretty sharp out of the box and takes a good edge - Crisp spring assist action - Stows easily and securely The cons: - Heavy - blade deployment ergonomics Over time, here are some other things I'd like to learn about this blade: - How the blade coating holds up - Edge retention over the longer term - How well it works with a firesteel - How it holds up when I drop it in the garage or on the patio. I only say this because I had a $10 S&W knife drop out of my bag while it was over my shoulder and the outer plastic casing on the knife handle cracked. Overall, it's a great EDC knife for the price.

Very Nice for the price BUT- China made :-(
Nov 2015: For the price it's a nice pocket knife. But, it's got one word on it that I always hate to see. "CHINA". Yep, china as in made in china. Other than that it's a nice knife that opens easily with one hand and not to heavy. I have only had it for a few days and I already like it better than my old one. I don't know how long it will stay this sharp but seeing as it was sub $40 I don't expect it to be perfect. Aug 2016: Still has "made in China" on it. But, it's holding up well regardless of the abuse I have put it through. Which is starting camp fires with flint rods ( blade has a nice 90 degree spine for throwing large sparks) and even processing kindling for the fires. Holds the edge well, easy to sharpen, and the assisted blade opener still works. Use that a lot when I get bored... Yeah, still worth five stars! Sorry guys but it's a really good knife, for work, for camping, even slit wood with mine (very carefully). Dec 15, 2016 Well the spring broke and is no longer assists in opening the knife. Lasted a year, you decide if it's worth it or not. Other than that the knife has held up really well. Throw a fresh coat of paint on it and it would look brand new! It's not loose, bent or chipped. Not bad for the price i paid a year ago! April 2017 Well, i broke the tip off... Forgot that it was made in china and opened a wooden crate at work, broke the tip off. I am buying another one because it is a good knife. Ill keep the old one in my desk for opening crates ;-)

Great EDC knife for a bargain price!
I spent a long time looking for an EDC knife, after having to get a live Christmas tree for the first time this year (never again). I really needed something for cutting the rope to secure it to the top of the car; ended up using a pair of safety scissors my wife keeps in the car. Nightmare. When I got the knife, I was surprised how light it was. I carry it all the time and I barely know its there, but the pocket clasp is very secure and does not let it slip or slide. The opening mechanism, a thumb activating nob, is quick, easy, and safe. I taught my wife how to use it in less than five minutes. It is very easy to close, even one handed, and the lock is secure and stable. I was surprised with how comfortable the knife is as well. I am 6'5" male, and have pretty big hands. The knife fits in my palm easily despite being barely longer than a credit card (when closed) and no thicker than a lighter. The material feels great in the hand, no cheap or slick, but really solid and easy to manipulate. Lastly, this sucker is SHARP. I used it to open packages for Christmas and when it cut through cardboard like a hot knife through butter. Packing tape was a breeze as well, sliced right through without any tangling and gnarling of tape fiber. If you are looking for a simple, everyday knife that is easy to use, safe, and works like a dream, look no further my friends. The Kershaw Class is the knife for you!
