The water bottle area is slightly small as the comments indicate, especially for most of the larger water bottles available, but I did find a slim insulated stanley that fits well. The quality seems good. I'm tall, so I'm still trying to adjust the strap to fit me that is comfortable. I might buy a cushion like I have on my seat belts to help cushion where the straps hits in front. Yes, once you put things in it, it will slide, but so would any backpack. My old samsung phone fits just fine in the small pocket. I was able to fit in the things I needed for the trip without problem. The strap is comfortable, and the weight of the bag it is good - much less than my purse when full! I liked having hands-free, and a place to old my water bottle. I'd probably wear it on the front if I was traveling at a theme park or out of the country so you have more security over your stuff. Once I started putting things it, it filled up quickly, but it held everything I needed for the day. The back is padded and the strap over the shoulder so that was nice.
