Courtney (Amanda Michalka) and Taylor Callum (Alyson Michalka) have been well provided for by their dairy owning father Reed (Jack Coleman), but have become obsessed with fashion and societal image and lack compassion for anyone but themselves. When the girls' selfish absorption gets out of hand and leads to a kitchen fire, their father demands that they spend the summer working in the company dairy, hoping to instill in them a sense of responsibility and duty. The initially resentful girls quickly find themselves in a very uncomfortable predicament when the dairy unexpectedly runs out of funds while their father is out of the country. Hopelessly at odds with one another regarding the appropriate action and even their own levels of responsibility, the sisters are forced to grow up in a hurry and end up learning more about compassion and responsibility than their father could have ever imagined. Aly and AJ deliver a believable portrayal of stereotypical spoiled rich girls and their hit song "On the Ride" serves as appropriate background music during one scene of the movie. Enjoyable movie for any age
Enjoyed this movie before and had it but was given away. So I purchased another copy to re-add to my collection. I loved the Michalka sisters back then.

An excellent film!
The story of this movie was interesting. I usually don't pay attention to the movie that is being played at dinner, but for multiple reasons, I was drawn to watch this. Aly & AJ plays two daughters that works for their father's dairy company. Something terrible happens, and the two daughters strive to help out to keep the business going. There were also many micro problematic situations in the movie, just like in real life, that always kept the story dyanamic and interesting. There's guy/girl problems, sister problems, business problems, suspected thievery theories, conspiracies, work/life/family matrix complexities, and the general class jealousy/conflicts. There were probably others, but those are what I remember generally. Overall, I loved the movie and there was actual thoughtful meaning in it. This makes a perfect birthday gift for anyone! As well as something for your own collection if you love Walt Disney movies OR just Aly & AJ! :)

More Disney morality..
I fell in love with Alyson Michalka in "Phil of the Future." She and her sister make a great team in this story about spoiled girls who have to pick up the slack when disaster strikes their Dad's business. Certainly worth an evening's rental and you might like it enough to buy it!

Diese Kommödie ist ein schwerer Brocken, sogar für einen ausgekochten Kommödiengucker wie mich. Weil 1. hat sie Regionscode 1 (ohne Vorwarnung): Wenn ihr einen PC habt, guckt sie mit dem VLC-Player, der den Sperrcode ignoriert, bei anderen Programmen, wie z.B Cyberlink, macht ihr euer CD Rom-Laufwerk unbrauchbar. Oder ihr kauft euch das DVDFab-Mein Filmkopierer-Programm bei amazon für 37 € und kopiert die Scheibe (plus Brennen), das Programm eliminiert den Regionscode automatisch und euer DVD-Player spielt sie ab. 2. Es gibt die DVD nur auf englisch (mit englischen Untertiteln) und hat mich, mit 10 Jahren Englischunterricht und viel Erfahrung im Sprechen mit Engländern, Amerikanern und Afrikanern vor Probleme gestellt, die ich nur mit [...] (Internet dictionary für alle Sprachen, sehr gut) lösen konnte. Deutscher Titel der DVD: "Partygirls auf Mission" von Disney, also für Kinder. Zum Inhalt: Zwei superverwöhnte Gören 15 und 16 Jahre alt (spoiled brats), Jahrestaschengeld 300 000 Us$ pro Kopf (!), weil ihr Alter Fabrikant für Milchprodukte ist, und sie ihn gut um den Finger wickeln können (Mutter tot), werden plötzlich von Daddy gezwungen in den Ferien in der Milchfabrik zu schuften. Natürlich geht da alles schief. Als dann Daddy auch noch mit dem Kapital der Firma nach Südamerika abhaut, stehen sie geküsst da und kriegen sich auch gegenseitig in die Wolle. Die Ältere rettet mit vollem Einsatz die Firma, und die Jüngere muß ihren Cottilion (Ami-Initiationsritual für Jungfern Übersetzung: `FigurentanzŽ, superpeinlich) Kostenbeitrag 60 000 US$, ausfallen lassen und ist damit gesellschaftlich erledigt. Die Ältere darf dafür den Sohn des wichtigsten Milchliefer-Bauern (superherb der Typ) trotz seines strengen Kuhgeruchs becircen, sonst gibts keine Milch mehr, weil kein Geld da ist, was sie nach einigen Schwierigkeiten (u.A. Mitwirkung bei der Geburt eines Kalbes) auch schafft. Also wie üblich bei Disney ein Happy End. Was nicht ganz disneymäßig ist, ist die umgangssprachliche Bedeutung von Cow Belles: riesige wohlgeformte weibliche Brüste! Und das versehe ich nach diesem Film überhaupt nicht. Ach, was ich fast vergessen hätte: Die ältere Tochter ist Miss Madonna Ciccone (Jhg. 1956), die anscheinend auf einer Verjüngungsfarm war: Die schönste und goldigste Madonna, die es je gab, und die Jüngere ist Pink (so sieht die im wirklichen Leben aus), auch nicht schlecht, wenn man auf dem Typ steht, beide falsch indiziert (als Schwestern Allison und Amanda Michalka, die sich überhaupt nicht ähneln). Sie spielen ihre deutlich vorhandenen Antipathien füreinender super aus. Keine Angst, sie singen keinen Ton. Viel Spaß!
