When these showed up they were very pungent. But after sitting on the shelf for at least a few months (its been over a year) they've become pleasant and have a light vanilla and wooden smell. I think they needed to dry a bit.

I read the reviews before purchasing, but I was not prepared for the strength! Considering the price of actual agarwood, I highly doubt there is much at all in these sticks. It's a nicely spicy-woody-sweet scent that almost smells chocolatey under the (maybe cedar?) wood smoke top note. I find it pleasant, but your mileage will vary. It will definitely fill a room. Maybe break a stick in two and just do half to start with. A bit more smoky than the chrysanthemum variety, which are almost smokeless, but also not as bad as bamboo-core incense in smoke volume (and no burning grass smell lingering after the incense has faded). Mine came with the top of the box taped shut, so even though it was just tossed in a paper mailing bag with other stuff in the order, no spilling or broken sticks.

I am a huge incense fan, and aloeswood is my favorite fragrance. I've tried a lot of different ones at various price points, and this is the best I've found. The scent is spicy, woodsy, and light - very natural, not "perfume." This will always be in my incense collection now, and is one of my two favorites. (My other favorite is Kayuragi Incense Sticks - Aloeswood , which is more expensive per stick and is a little bit heavier.) I burn it daily. Also, although the price seems expensive - this is more than I usually pay for a box of incense - it is a large box with quite a lot of sticks. It will last a long time, and it is well worth the extra price for the high quality. Couldn't recommend it any more highly for aloeswood fans, or anyone who wants a complex, spicy fragrance that is equally pleasing for meditation or just daily atmosphere.

Why only 4 stars? First, this is a BEAUTIFUL scent - calming, Earthy, and very faintly floral. Great quality used for small rooms and burns for about 10 to 15 minutes. The downside, call me crazy if you want, but I advise against this incense if your house is haunted. It ENERGIZES spirits to interact physically. THAT is unpleasant. However, if that’s exactly what you’re seeking, then this is it!

While these are superior to Nippon Kodo's more economical offerings, there is definitely a strong perfume and palpable smoke to these. Rather than disappearing into the background, the scent takes center stage and draws attention to itself. Though not particularly chemical in its smell, the smell borders on the overpowering. I'd moved away from Indian incense toward Japanese for greater tranquility (i.e., in order to give my head and breathing a break), but these do not help me to achieve that goal.

Gorgeous oudy dusty library books and antiques. This is a fantastic real oud burn on a budget. 300 for 20 bucks you can't go wrong. Will it scent your entire home for days - no Is it as good as KZ or CraftIncense - absolutely not. Is it the best value agarwood incense stick on the market - 100% absolutely.

Wow! These are great incense if you're a fan of Morning Star incense sticks. They're my go-to preferred brand of incense stick, and after scrolling through all of the available scents looking for a new one to try I settled on this one. All I can say is Wow! They smell wonderful, they burn for a solid 30 minutes a stick, they didn't arrive broken so I'd consider them durable, and did I mention they smell wonderful? I'll definitely be ordering more after this box runs out :-)
